Highway Hovercops

I remember when I was 17 and couldn't wait to get my driver's licence. I'd drive around the country with friends at weekends just for the pleasure of driving. These days I only drive out of necessity, it's just no fun anymore. The public transport system in Holland seems to be gradually deteriorating in quality and service, so for me the car is just a conveniant way of getting from A to B. Had to go pick up Hub from the airport yesterday, and of course it was the middle of rush hour. There seems to be something about driving on busy roads which brings out the worst in people (including me I'm afraid! - oh shock, oh horror  Along the emergency lane a police car approaches, complete with sirens and flashing lights, and within about 5 seconds everyone got into their own lane, stopped honking and behaved like perfect gentlemen(and women). So I was thinking maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea if we had "Hovercops" flying above all the traffic lanes. Then I am faced with the dilemma of either gradually seeing Orwell's Big Brother scenario becoming more of a reality than it already is or my right to privacy.....mmm..... Is there going to ever be a point when we will be willing to sacrifice this right for the "good of society' as a whole? I hope not.
