no there is interference between your outlet and your ps3 power cord. Lots of outlets do it. Its not a fault it just has to do with the technology around you giving of magnetic interference which in turn causes the lines. If you buy the converter it makes it so it blocks out the interference which i think enters through the third prong which is why it is eliminated.

I could be totaly wrong but at least it sounds good lol but i know it works.

it works, i had the same problem, wat i did is just pulled out the third prong with pliers, but watever way u go it works
