A weekend from HELL!

I went out to Monterey this weekend to go to the Aquarium for science class. I'd been there before so it wasn't all that different. I was excited to see the Great White they had in captivity (only one in the world), but was disappointed to learn that it was released TWO DAYS before. Apparently it had eaten too many of the other sharks and fish so they had to let it go. I did, however, see some remnants of its stay when a huge tuna went swimming by in the "Outer Bay" exhibit with a massive chunk taken out of its side. That was Saturday and it ended with a night of smores and talking with a beautiful lady out on the beach for hours. The next day we all went to Santa Cruz and started out wonderful with a great day of surfing at Cal's Beach. The waves were kind of small (1 - 2 with occasional 3 - 4) but I had an 11ft. board so pretty much anything would carry me while I walked back and forth on the board trying handstands and whatnot.

It all started going downhill from here. Halfway through the day of surfing I got some sand in my left eye. I've had that plenty of times before and gotten rid of it easily. I can't explain to you how stubborn this little menace was. We were ready to head back home (Lake Tahoe) at the end of the day at about 5:30pm. I ate some food at Saturn's with my three good friends (including the beautiful lady from the night before). Although the place is awesome the meal was mediocre and I wasn't all that satisfied. Nevertheless we took off. None of us knew how to get out of Santa Cruz though and one of the girls was shouting out bogus directions she made up on the spot while the driver followed. We finally go out of there and were on our way back. There was a storm on scheduled to be going on in the mountains on the way back. It was raining from Santa Cruz the whole way to Lake Tahoe where it was snowing. Keep in mind this ride takes 4 1/2 to 5 hours to complete.

We were on highway 88 going towards Kirkwood when we come across a car flipped on its side. We must have arrived about a minute after it happened because the people were just finished getting out of the car. There was a truck already there with people helping them. I got out and ran to see what was up and the people that were already there to help weren't doing anything. There was a mother, father and two boys. These two boys both had no shoes and were standing in cold snow with shirts and shorts crying. The mother was in disarray and the father was just in shock. The people already there before us were just standing around talking to them instead of HELPING. So I rushed to get my blanket I had and a plastic bag. The mother had banged her head really bad and was complaining about headaches and chest pains. I made an ice pack with the plastic bag and gave her my blanket. I took her to the truck that was already there and told the people to turn the heat on and let her sit in it. Then I went into the turned over car to get the kids some shoes. I don't know if you've ever been in a turned over car but it is freaky and the whole place was covered in glass. I found the shoes and some more blankets. One of the boys had a gash about 5 inches long and 1 inch wide on his lower back and I had my driver friend hold the mom while I cleaned and took care of this gash. Then I told the boy not to sit because it might rip the gash open more. I had him stand outside the truck with a blanket and talk to his mom to keep her awake. The other boy and father were just in shock and I had them wrapped in blankets and talking to the mother as well. The ambulance came and we tried to continue up 88. We found out the reason the family was on the way down was because there was an avalanche onto the road so it was closed.

Turning around we went to find another road to cross over to highway 50. We found one and about 11 miles in we found out this road had never been plowed. We ran into a 5ft. wall of snow after passing a couple fallen trees. We got stuck in a ditch and none of our cell phones had signals. We thought we would be there overnight. We eventually got out and got back onto 88 to head down and find another road to cross over on. The next road we took was one to Placerville. It was about 5:00 am at this time and we were hungry so we took a pit stop at Denney’s. We continued on to Gardnerville (south east side of Lake Tahoe) to get another car that was there and then up to my house in Incline Village on the north side of Lake Tahoe. We got back at about 9:30 am. I was ready for sleep because I had classes that day starting at 2pm. Our landlord (LL) was there when we got. Before even saying "Hi" to us he said "No drinking in the house!" *A little background here; one of my other roommates had recently committed suicide and happened to be an alcoholic.* Then he wanted to wrestle with my other roommate (the driver) and learn some moves. He had class in a couple minutes but our LL was pretty adamant about doing this. So they wrestled and my friend showed him some moves which he weirdly took to heart, repeating it over and over quietly to himself. Then our LL did a prayer for my friend, during which he mentioned my friend's sister and how god should, "Protect her virginity." WTF!! Our LL was getting more and more crazy ever minute. He talked to the hot girl from the beach whom he had never met and was like, "So how do you like the place, when are you moving in?" He even mentioned that during the prayer! My friend went to class and I went down to my room to get some shuteye. I had barely laid down for 15 minutes when I heard a loud racket and yelling upstairs.

Upon reaching the top I see one of my other roommates holding our LL down on the ground screaming, "I don't want to fight you!" I helped separate them and tried to talk sense into our LL but he didn't even acknowledge my existence. He was scary I tell you! Expressionless, dark, sinister, you name it. This guy is 40 and we are 20 and the roommate he was fighting is 33 and could easily kick the LL's ass. The roomy went outside on the balcony to call the cops and the LL ran to the door sliding onto his knees and began screaming, "**** KILLED HIMSELF IN THIS HOUSE!! THAT IS MY RESPONSIBILITY, IT IS MY FAULT!" He is referring to the roommate that committed suicide of course and that he had drank in the house. The fight turned out being about the 33 year old roomy not accepting the "no drinking in the house" policy. The LL had been the one earlier telling us all it was none of our faults, none of us could have prevented the suicide and now he pulls a 180 like this. So the roomy on the balcony says, "It wasn't your fault!" (Of course) and the LL goes and attacks him AGAIN! The roomy is really pissed now and I think someone is going over the balcony (3 stories tall). He pushes the LL to one side of the balcony and goes through the house and out the front door to finish calling the cops. LL comes in and stops for a second, still not acknowledging me, and takes off to the front door where he proceeds to yell at the top of his lungs three times, "I LOVE YOU MAN!!!" Then says he has to go and he'll be back and takes off in his car. The police arrive and we talk to them and whatnot. The 33 year old roomy gets packed up and moves out that day. I find our later the LL had tried to rap his ex-wife the night before and then THAT night after the fight had gone and beat up his son!

I'm at a loss at this moment as to what to do because I don’t want to live in this house anymore but neither my roommate nor I have anywhere to go. I missed classes that day and didn't get to study for tests the next day and had to crash at a friend’s house that night. AHAHHHAHHAHAHHHH!!!!!!!! EVERY THING IS SOO CRAZY NOW!! All I could do to relax was crunk some people in Halo 2 and play some Mario Sunshine to make myself feel better.

Oh yeah. This whole time I had a dammed piece of sand in my left eye that is STILL THERE!!

I need to play some DOOM 3, hope you enjoyed my story.
