It sounds to me like you're burnt out. Happens to the best of us.

What worked for me was switching over to other forms of media for a bit. I read a fantasy series, started watching kdrama, stuff like that. I also switched genres for a little when I started to ease myself back into gaming. I also picked up new hobbies and spent more time out of the house.

People saying you're just getting old or you need to get out of gaming aren't necessarily right. Not entirely wrong, either. Try branching out a bit and see how you feel in a couple weeks.

Skyrim is more of a game for me to play when I'm drunk, tired, or just burnt out. I don't really have to be invested in anything and I can just run around looking at all the scenery.

Fallout 4 is something I play when I'm in a roleplaying mood. Although I honestly hate the dialogue wheel. What happened to player choice? You just end up shoehorned into being the good guy anyway. And I miss SPECIAL checks and the choice to be sassy.

I think the biggest issue is the double standard. A white person with dreads is usually seen as a hippy or just "alternative" while a black person with dreads is seen as a thug. Same hairstyle, different perceptions based SOLELY on skin colour.

I mean, yes and no.

I personally don't trust anyone in power, but it's hardly a secret that media (music, tv, movies, etc) employs marketing specifically designed to keep people focused on superficial stuff (like aforementioned media).

Do world governments and media outlets have more control than they let on? Yes, but it's not some vast satanic conspiracy.
