The problem i see with demon's souls is not that it's bad, on the contrary it gave me very pleasant times, coupled with some frustration sure but a kind of satisfaction I've long felt missing.
The real problem is that in my opinion it isn't an RPG, there's no R there, just PG, in other words, it's a hack and slash game same as diablo, and i am not saying diablo was a bad game, i loved it but to me it was a hack and slash, again not a single piece of R there.
A RPG game should be rewarded for it's story primarily since the whole genre was supposed to revolve around it, in a sense i guess the computer folks will never get this, but i am sure as i can be anyone who ever played an old school table RPG weeps a little by this nomination, since it only serve to inspire a new generation of ever more meaningless games, where choices get streamlined to kill pressing X or Y.
As game of the year though, demon's soul was a fine choice and i agree with it.
