The disruption has arrived!!!

Hi all, first blog post, I'm just gonna copy and paste a thread I started because I feel this is so important. For those who are worried that the wii is doomed and no good games will come out on the system, read on. For those who are wondering "What the heck Nintendo is doing?", read on. For those who play games, read on. For those that like economics, read on... Actually, everyone should read that. You can go the thread here

Before I post anything let me warn you, these articles are long but well worth reading. I suggest you set aside 30 mins /1 hour (depending on the speed you read) to read this. The links I'm posting are from a series the author is working on called the " Disruption Chronicles" There was an other series prior to this one called "The blue Ocean Articles" These series explains Nintendo's views, strategies and goals from the past to the future, you will never see the big N the same way. It will give you tools to "defend" yourself against the ravid fanboys who are ignorant about Nintendo's plans.

The birdmen and the casual fallacy is the first of the Disruption Chronicles. You should read this article first if you haven't already, it's an introduction to whole disruption concept. It will also explain why most third parties are not successful with the Wii and where they should focus when making games. Here's a description of the article:

"The Industry is making love to the 'Casual Fallacy' because it removes blame for bad decisions prior to the Wii explosion. The article ends by introducing the disruption context."

The second one was posted not long ago and is the second article of the Disruption Chronicles, the author calls it Disruptive Storm. Read this once you are done with the first one. This article is more technical than the the Birdmen article, it's going into the meat of the Disruption strategy. Here's a small description:

"The article describes disruption and gives example of industry after industry being turned inside out. Countless Nintendo quotes reveal their aim is disruption, which new market expansion is merely the first step to a new re-making of the Industry… in Nintendo's image. Article ends by showing the Industry is actually beginning the third generation, not the seventh."

Let me finished by saying that this guy is a genius, he knows how to write well, but also research his stuff. He uses a good number of quotes and different business events to prove his points. Happy reading

*UPDATE*

The next 2 articles are called finding Nintendo's shield and Finding Nintendo's Sword. I suggest anyone interested in Nintendo, Video games, heck even economics to read that... Actually, everyone should read that.

This article explains how Nintendo will defend itself against other companies. Here's a description:

" Console War is battling over the same values. Disruption is battling over different values. The incumbents *must* respond to the disruptor's outrageous growth. Holding different motivations for the console market shields Nintendo from counterattacks. Incumbent response marks the beginning of asymmetric battles where they desperately attempt to stop the disruption before it is too late, before their firms are destroyed."

The other one explains how Nintendo will strike in the "old market":

" Unlike the 'Console War', the outcome of asymmetric war is devastating where great firms suddenly end. The stakes are high and the winner will claim captain of the Industry herself. The article shows how 'Blue Ocean' and 'Disruption' work together, points to clues on the final stage of Nintendo's revolution, and the tragic mistake that keeps analysts to wander off the reservation. Learn how Nintendo will use asymmetric skills, a 'sword', to gore the incumbents. See why disruption shattered incumbent brands. Witness the Fall of the Birdmen, the Parable of Milkshakes, and the Slaughter of the Industry's Sacred Cows. The article ends with the total collapse of the Hardcore World."

Again, I suggest you take time to read those. Sony, Microsoft and third parties as well should be afraid of Nintendo. Everyone ingnored them at the beginning and that was a mistake. E3 this year will be amazing on Nintendo's side.
