You CAN NOT install games via external drive. LuckyLy

that what i needed to know, its not worth buying an external since all i really want to do is use it to install the games.

So verdict: buy an internal drive?

Hi, i own a 40gb ps3 and was wondering if i need any extra memory to install games such as gta 4 witch takes about 5 gigs our gran turismo 5 pro wich is like 8 gigs could i connect my ipod 30 gigs and use it to install these big games in order to save memory?

Or would be easier to just buy an external drive via usb?

Or is it again alot more easier to just change the 2.5 inch internal hd, if so how does the re-install on the new hd work and does this void warranty?

When you turn your ps3 system off (red light) or as sony says "standby mode"

Does it keep a fan on? Mine has like a little sound of a fan running at very low rpm and when i put my hand on the vents i can feel the air coming out.

So is this normal? Am i supposed to switch it off with the back switch or should i leave it in standby mode with the fan on?

So is this fan supposed to stay on like that?

Anyways i have a list of games im thinking of getting and i just wanted to know if i could play them with my buddies...Not multiplayer, what i mean is Controller 1 vs Controller 2 and so on...

So verdict...Be safe with the PS3...

It is able to pass airport security without problems or hardware malfunctions due to x-ray.

If anyone else has anything else to add i think ill be able to travel with my ps3. I appreciate the quick and good responses!

I know this may seem a weird question but it may be helpful to all you travelers! Has anyone taken their ps3 through airport security? I mean with you in the plane of course or else it would freeze and die and of course we all DONT want that do we?

So has anyone taken it through? Any problems? Concerns? I bet they tell you to take it out...
