I Finally got myself a 1TB western Digital Sata HDD. I was running out of space on my old WD 320Gig drive. I've already filled one third of it, and still pumping those downloads.;)
I finally made up my mind to get myself a new PC. As I was sick of my P4 1.8ghz with an ati x800 pro AGP graphics card. So i started saving from my part time job and when i had around $800, I went out to buy the components. Let me tell you that the night before we all were totally drunk, and the first thing i did the next morning was buy the PC parts (still in a hangover !)
So off i went to melbourne's lonsdale street, and hardware lane, where quite a few shops sell stuff for a lot lower price(well that's what i'd heard ). I started my upgrade with a new motherboard, which i Had to buy as my ancient board back home couldn't be upgraded any further. So i got myself a gigabyte MA78G-DS3H board.
My Motherboard - gigabyte MA78G-DS3H
After that i went into another shop to buy the ram, and after a bit of looking around i finally found what i had been looking for, Kingston Hyper-X DDR2 - 800 2 x 1gb dual channel Ram. I'd read a couple of reviews so i picked it up. I was on a real tight budget so i checked my wallet. out of the $800 i had spent $130 on the motherboard, and $90 on the ram. Still had a lot of shopping to do. So i had $$590 remaining, with the cpu, graphics card, case, keyboard/mice, hdd, power supply to buy. I planned to use my old 17" crt monitor, as it was pretty good.

So off i went to look for a case and its internals. I found a cooler master case with an inbuilt power supple 650watt for $150. I found that to be pretty good as the shop was clearing stuff for new stock. I looked for a standard logitec keyboard mice combo and eventually, after a bit of bargaining, i got both the case, and the combo input devices for $150 :D. That left me with $440 still to go.

I later purchased a western digital 640gb sata hard disk for $80.

Finally i had $360 remaining, not much to buy a decent cpu and gpu. As i preferred amd, always, i looked into their latest phenom range. I had not read any reviews or benchmarks about amd. So i just listened to the guy in shop and he recommended the x3 range over the x2 6000+ which i was going for. i thought alright, might as well get the latest one. so i picked up the 8450 or something for $150.
Later i found that the cpu is not a very top ****and should have gone for the x4 9550 instead. so went looking for the last component, the graphics card. I had about 180 bucks left so had to look for something good, butcheap. as i did not had a huge monitor, i was not looking forward for a high end card. An ati card caught my eye. it was the now forgotten hd 3870, 512mb. I picked it up as it was a decent card, and was the only good one i could find for that price.
SO i finally had everything ineeded, for less than $800. And here in the australian market things are a lot expensive thantheus market.
But anyways, i went home, assembled it, and the first game i installed and played was the crysis. as it never ran on my old x800pro card. It was pretty good. I was able to run it on high on 1024x768 with aa off. i got a decent frame rate of 25-35 fps, thats all i needed. As im not much of a gamer, i dont play many games. But i was happy with my upgrade, atleast it was a lot better than my previous pc and i could play all latest games on it as well.
