@gfantini: Yeah, I have a PSVR and it's a lot like the Wii - really cool at first but quickly wears thin when you realize the depth of gameplay just isn't there. It's definitely the future but we're just not there yet with the technology.
@Thretosix: It's all good. I probably should've just said I wasn't interested in the rest. People worked hard on those games and many people will enjoy them - just not me. I'm usually not so crass. I'm just fairly underwhelmed so far by the announcements this year. It seems this generation of consoles doesn't have anywhere near the amount of quality games of the past few generations. Perhaps, it's just a "been there, done that" thing for me or the developers are just running out of fresh ideas. I can't quite put my finger on it. Maybe, it's just me getting too old.
@Thretosix: That's why I said they look like garbage "to me". Emphasis on "me". I'm fully aware others will like them and that's ok. Others people's trash and all...
EA reads all these comments and then looks at their 2016 financial sheet that shows 4.8 billion in total sales - 1.2 billion of that being from DLC. EA remembers all the bad publicity from the early years of DLC and all the people who threatened to boycott their games because of it. They realize that didn’t happen. They put out a canned statement, pop a bottle of champagne and cheer the new age of micro-transactions. Sure, it’ll be a bumpy start. Gamers will complain. But, in 2020, they’ll be toasting their 6 billion in total sales - 2 billion of that from micro-transactions. Sad, but true.
Wow. A new record for Sony bailing on its products. I'm glad I didn't pre-order the PSVR. I'm in "wait and see" mode now. If it ends up with a truckload of shovelware and doesn't command serious first-party support and robust advertising, I'll either wait for the sheer price drop or skip it altogether.
