Last night I got the snail mail out of the good ol' mail box, and guess what I found? Etrian Odyssey IIIfrom Today on the Spot! I was really surprised because I never seem to win anything anywhere, and I didn't get an email or pm. Anyway, thanks to the GS crew for my gift!

Well folks, yesterday I picked up Starcraft 2. And I love it. Anyone who wants to face me, my username is wesooeight.

So Monster Hunter Tri finally came in the mail yesterday (hint: don't get stuff shipped to you from gamestop!). I'm really really REALLY enjoying it. EDIT: Looks like GS's review is up! All in all, it was a strong review. While it didn't go AAA, it had lots of pros and emblems (which were all good).

Why? You can't change the subject line in a reply! Started a thread on system wars and embarrassingly discovered that in other email clients you can.

This blog post is official created in the defence of home consoles (mostly Wii) and to put an end to shovelware!!

Since these "next gen" home consoles have been released, there has been a long debate about which is better. Also, people seem to gang up on the Wii. Well it seems that gamers these days have been quoting George Orwell in saying:

"All consoles are equal. But some consoles are more equal than others."

To each person his own opinion, right? Well in our society people for some odd reason share their opinion. So if you don't want to hear my opinion then stop reading. I will try not to impose favoritism but it is impossible to be not biased. The following is my breakdown of which consoles are for what people:

Wii

For the old skool/retro gamers.

Let's face it. The Wii is perfect for these gamers. With the Virtual Console library and plenty of remakes/reboots/sequels of ****c games, there's plenty of retro to choose from. And Wii Fit.

Xbox 360

For the modern gamers.

What doesn't scream modern about the 360? First-person shooters, high-definition gaming, and even online fees!

PlayStation 3

For the "artsy" people.

This console is a unique hybrid of the previous two featuring games full of customization.

"Wait," you might say, "What about the casual gamers and non gamers?" These niches of gamers do not exist. A casual gamer's sibling or friend might own a console, and the casual gamer will play along occasionally. That's why they're casual. A non gamer just doesn't game. End of story. So gamespotters, don't dis a console. Different consoles for different gamers, right?

On to the second part of this blog. Shovelware. For those of you who don't know shovelware is a flat out bad game that was thrown together in a few months to grab some quick cash. It's crippling the industry. A lot of times people dis the Wii because of it's bad selection of games. Well that's because the Wii has a huge library, and it's full of shovelware. Look at the PS3. Small library, not a lot of shovelware. But the 360 and PS3 still have their fair share of shovelware. It's just harder to spot. Instead with the Wii you can instantly tell Pretty Princess in Fairy Pony Wonderland is a poor game. Is this an advantage? Maybe. Maybe not. You decide! Either way, shovelware must be stoped. And if you look at you console's release schedule, the stream of shovelware is slowing down. How can we stop shovelware? Just don't buy it. It will always be there, but in not so great ammounts.

Phew. Glad that's off me. Ok. Maybe I was being a tad defensive of the Wii. But I showed that each console suits a different niche of gamers. And that was just my opinion. Which is totally worthless. Or maybe it's worth something to you. Or maybe you wasted your precious time reading this junk. Go play God of War III. Or maybe your a more modern gamer and you'll go play Bad Company 2 on your 360. Or maybe your and old school gamer and you'll go play Cave Story on your Wii. Ok, that's enough uses of the word maybe. But that's what criticism is. A bunch of "maybes". Thanks for reading. First off, I made it to level 8:Quad Damage. Hoora for me! Second, after much waiting, Tales of Monkey Island Chapter 5 was finally released for wiiware today. I just downloaded it, and took it for a quick spin. Even when he's (spoilers!) dead Guybrush is still his quirky self. I think I will do my first review on it.
