E3 '07 - Microsoft

After months of hype and excitement, E3 is finally here, and Microsoft, with armory full of games in their clip, they showed no weakness in the pre-events that led to Microsoft's press conference. They started out with the numbers and how they are blowing the competition away, and how its now almost a neck and neck race against Nintendo's "everybody console," the Wii. After they continued ranting about their impressive numbers, they showed a few in game demos like Rock Band, Call of Duty 4, and Madden ... Meh. Rock Band was great and it really showed what great potential it has, and it showed a bright future for whats to come in the future. The only down fall Rock Band concieved was the blonde haired girl that was a junkie. I don't know if something was wrong with the speakers at the press conference or the microphone that is being sold with Rock Band has a bad sound input quality or the blonde, but they need to fix it before the release. Because "bad sound quality + singing gamer = a trip to the ear doctor." The game that caught my eye was Call of Duty 4. I don't know if its because I have a sniping fetish or just love beautiful graphics, but this game is one the top games on my list. I love how, in the begenning seen it seems like it just you and your well detail sniper rifle and out of nowhere your buddy pops up and your like "WTF, thats amazing grahical representation of camoflage." They also showed the Grand Theft Auto IV trailer everybody has seen like a thousand times, but the thing that got the most agrevated was how Microsoft was so proud to show off all of the Disney titles that were coming to the Video Marketplace. In fact, that took more time with the Disney movies than they did with Grand Theft Auto IV. One more thing was how Microsoft sought out to bring Family titles for the Xbox 360, and there was about 20 minutes left of the press conference when they where done showing off there Disney trophy. When it was done I said to my self "Finally now on to the good part," and Peter Moore started going on about all of these Japanesse developers and then he said they where introducing an existing franchise that will make its debut on the Xbox 360, and I'm like biting hand at this point because in my head I'm screaming "METAL! GEAR!," and time started to slow down and I got extremely excitied and then poped out of his mouth "Resisident Evil 5" ... "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" It was such a disapointment, that I was heart broken that I was not going to be able to play the the series that I dreaded to play for so many years. After that I felt as if there was one big anouncement left. There sat three podiums and one of them sat a Premium Xbox 360, the other one an Elite Xbox 360, and the other on was empty. Then Peter Moore grabbed under the and pulled out, YES, Xbox handheld, finally baby ... Nope just another Xbox 360, but this time its Green and it has a Halo logo on it. Cool, let me go sell mine for a lower value on eBay just so I can have a Halo Xbox 360, sorry Microsoft, I don't have the money, the time, nor the disire to pull of that move. And they quickly wrapped up the press conference with a trailer of Halo 3's game play which was impressive, but it just reminded me of Halo 2 and not the original Halo I loved. So with Microsoft's semi-exciting, mostly boring press conference out of the way, I won't even bother with Sony nor Nintendo. Looked like Microsoft forgot to put the clip in the gun... Darn.
