why? I can already play xvids on my 360 :P
www.tversity.com ;) have fun!darksusperia
does this just transcode the avi files to mp4 in order to get them to work on the 360? i already have the videora converter which works fine... i think we are all just waiting for the instant gratification of watching xvid files without having to wait 1-2 hours to transcode them first.
I hope, hope, HOPE this rumor is true... the next update will supposedly include a codec for xvid support through the media player. as the article says, it could be total bs because most likely microsoft is aware of how much money they'd lose on their video marketplace if they offered xvid support for the media player.
bittorrent + 360 media player with divx support = as much free video as you can dl :P

stating the obvious here but c'mon dude, virtua ****ing fighter and no bioshock? thats just wrong. anyway, it'll depend what factors carry the most weight this year. my guess...
Popular vote will go to Halo 3 no doubt
Art direction / Design / Original Story - Bioshock
Innovation - Rock Band
100 BULLETS. I'm a huge fan of the comic and I was going to buy an original xbox just for this game, but Acclaim filed for bankruptcy and bye-bye 100 bullets. you can find a video for the trailer on this site. it looked SO GOOD!
Supposedly another developer is working on a version completely seperate from the unfinished one Acclaim was working on... whatever, I'll believe it when i see it
definitely skate. turning off the music and dialogue and putting on your own skate music is awesome.
its a great game and i play it everyday.

dude, i could not agree more. i bought bioshock when it came out but whenever i turn on the console, the SKATE demo is the first thing i play! all i can say is, if the demo is this good then the full game is gonna rule.
as far as i know the hardware changes have not taken place yet (at least, those units aren't on the shelves yet). however, i was in the same position a few weeks ago wondering if i should buy one or wait...
i wound up buying a "pro" model after i learned they started coming with the hdmi output like the elites have. i figured these models were guaranteed to be newer and therefore less prone to hardware failures and the RRoD like its predecessors. also, i read somewhere on this forum they have added a second heatsink to the gpu to help with cooling issues. i can't confirm that for sure but these new pro models supposedly have them.
anyway, so far so good. you can make sure youre getting one of these newer pro models (formerly "premium") by checking on the side of the box for "hdmi output" in the specs (though its NOT on the front of the box for some reason). Also, the sku barcode tag reads "zephyr" near the model #, which was the codename for the elite consoles. im not sure which 360 model you plan to get, but these new mid-range pro models seem to be the best value:
Hmmm it seemed to me that the controlls weren't very responsive on certain moves. Also whenever you crash it looks like your character fell asleep.cboyuno
I thought the same thing about the controls at first, but after playing through the demo a few times I realized that there is just A LOT of finesse involved. Overall its amazing how realistic the physics are and, now that i'm used to them, how much the controls serve to promote that realism. just look at the way your guy lands tricks. sometimes he's perfectly balanced, sometimes you can see his body want to turn into an extra 180 as the board hits the ground... its basically like being able to control the guy in a real skate video, true camera angles and all. i admit, the falls did seem pretty lame. it would be so cool if you could see your dude rack his sack on a gnarly rail or smack the back of his head on the ground after he couldn't quite turn that backside flip all the way around. anyway, great job of taking a familiar genre and doing something completely different with it. tony hawk fans may not be too crazy about it, but skateboarding fans will LOVE it.
I was REALLY cheering on Bioshock to get the first gamespot "10" in ALMOST 6 YEARS (the last one being tony hawk 3 in 2001).
I realize that a "9" is a pretty damn good score no matter how you look at it, but when EVERY other site has been giving it a higher score, MOST of them perfect or barely under, you really have to wonder if GS just thinks its cool to be the one who rated it the lowest. We all know this is not the first game to be underscored by GS when compared to, say, 12 OTHER REVIEWS so the impression i'm getting is that GS thinks they have more credibility because they can find more things wrong with a particular game than other critics (which is TOTAL bs). I don't think I can take any of their reviews too seriously anymore (not just based on this review). c'mon, they haven't reviewed a better game since tony hawk 3??? i think that says it all.
