Ok, i just asked one question..... could i run any of those games, a lot of you guys replied with the answer i wanted but most of you are like "just buy this" or "use that and that and buy those" yeah its not easy as it sounds. My PC is somehow unable to run windows anymore, i used to have Windows 7 Ultimate with Half Life 2, Garry's Mod, Doom 3, Grand Theft Auto: 3, Vice City and San Andreas and i ran ALL of those games with FULL SETTINGS with NO LAG. But (my guess is) my processors started failing and i couldn't run windows anymore. But somehow Ubuntu Linux is working perfectly. "buy a new this and that" sounds alot easier then it looks. Our budget is really bad right now and were just trying to make it through the month and no jobs around my are hiring 15 year olds so im screwed. All im asking is if which ones will work, and i know some will and i know some won't but just help me please :)

[QUOTE="xJonathanX95x"]and for the record guys i tried playing DooM 3 and it runs perfectly even with full settings :)NailedGR

John Carmack is a huge linux fan. IDs games historically ran well on Linux. I seem to recall him fixing a problem with one of the linux distros to run quake 3 better.

Oh no no no no, i didn't download DooM 3 for Linux (which dosen't exist cause DooM 3 is ONLY for windows 2000 and XP), i used a program called Wine to install DooM 3, Wine is a linux tool that allows you to run windows files on linux, such as games, executable files, msi installers and other stuff. Wine pretty much tricks the program into thinking your installing it on windows but your actually installing it on Linux. And thats how i got DooM 3 to work.

[QUOTE="C_Rule"][QUOTE="xJonathanX95x"][QUOTE="C_Rule"]Umm... I don't know for sure, but I heard Windows games ram poorly under Linux, plus that is only onboard graphics. COD2 should definitely work. COD4 might, Deus may. I wouldn't expect any of the others to run very well.

I tried Call of Duty 4 on my pc before and even with low settings it still ran pretty laggy so idk, but ill try COD 2, thanks :D see my pc is having trouble running windows so im kinda forced to use Linux :/

COD4 doesn't seem to be very hard to run (I get an average of like 200fps on highest settings) so if it doesn't run, I wouldn't even bother trying anything other than COD2 and Deus Ex (I was thinking of a different one before, Deus should run fine).

Well COD4 wasn't that bad, it was playable, it just got a bit laggy at times when there was a lot going on.
