GameSpot :: Pokemon

Been playing Pokémon games recently (mostly finished with Pokémon Red, and tackling Pokémon Ranger).

I have to say that I love Pokémon Ranger, although it does give me heartache sometimes by being so damn hard to beat. But that only adds to the delight when you get over some obstacle you've fought with for hours (feels like hours, anyway).

I think I may be obsessing about Pokémon games for quite a while... (Mystery Dungeon will be next, I guess.)

GameSpot :: WipEout

Started playing WipEout (1995) today, since I'm almost done with Wipeout XL/2097.

It's amazing how different the controls can be although the controls are the same (same with WipEout Pulse when I tried it). It's like playing a totally different game, almost. Something to get used to, I guess.

It's just amusing that when playing the easiest track in WipEout, the best position I got was 5/8 (and I usually ended with a position 7/8 ).

More practise says I!

MovieTome: Where did you go?

So I head out to MovieTome to open another page so that I'll remember to post a movie review there as well - and it throws me right to Metacritic.

So. Not. Cool.

Has the site been totally terminated? Sure, MovieTome was a bit cranky sometimes, not finding movies, actors etc. upon search, but it would have been nice to get the heads up if it was being removed. You're lucky I have my reviews saved elsewhere! ;)

But, is this a permanent thing? I did an account on Metacritic, to see how it looks, and it seems it's fancy enough (although I need to copy all my other ratings in there (music, tv etc.) It seems it's not that much in synch with the other CBS websites, though (TV.com, MP3.com, GameSpot...)

MovieTome :: Trilogies and such

Lately I've got the desire to watch certain trilogies and movie series. Let's make a list;

I aim to watch these by the end of the year 2010:

  • The Lord of the Rings extended edition trilogy watched
  • The Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy watched
  • Star Wars episodes 1-6

I might also watch (if feeling like it):

  • The Matrix trilogy
  • The Fast and Furious 1-4
  • Underworld trilogy

On a totally unrelated note, I also must re-watch the newest Star Trek movie (XI) as soon as possible.

MovieTome :: Sam Worthington

Been watching Sam Worthington movies these past few days/weeks.

  • Avatar
  • Terminator Salvation
  • Macbeth
  • Gettin' Square
  • Rogue
  • Bootmen
  • Somersault
  • Dirty Deeds
  • A Matter of Life (it's a short film, so I don't know if that counts... lol)
  • Thunderstruck

I will be watching The Great Raid very soon, maybe tomorrow.

Need to find Fink! somewhere. Hart's War I've seen way before I even knew his name... maybe I need to re-view that as well. Clash of the Titans will be on DVD soon, I guess?

Other than that, what can I say? I've found myself a new favorite actor, no way around it. He is so pretty, so funny in interviews (I need to watch more of those), such an adorable guy, and great on screen. Haven't been disappointed once when I've seen him.

TV.com :: John Doe, Heroes, etc.

Currently watching John Doe, and it is rather good, I think. A bit slow at times, and it looks "old" although it isn't, but I am enjoying it.

Contemplating on what to watch next. Jeremiah? The Big Bang Theory? Or something else mystery related... Primeval, maybe. Lots of options.

The Tudors is still going on, for a few more episodes I guess. Caught up with The Simpsons (which wasn't all that good, and South Park, which was as brilliant as ever.

I can't believe they cancelled Heroes. That was my favorite show ever since I started to watch it. Oh well, all good things come to an end, I guess. If only they had maintained the quality they had on season 1, and which they partially found on season 4.

Eagerly waiting for returning shows, hopefully most of them make it to the next season (Fringe, Supernatural, The Mentalist, FlashForward).

TV.com :: Mutant X & Torchwood

Finished watching Mutant X yesterday, and decided to watch the 3rd season of Torchwood out of the way. Can't remember much from seasons 1 and 2, but it seems that's not really required.

Where Mutant X was embarrassingly bad at times (read: all the time), Torchwood's final(?) season is the best so far. There was a lot of quirkiness in the show to begin with, but now it is very serious and dark in a way. Loving it!

Next I think I'll start watching Fringe...

Gamespot :: Crash Bandicoot

Been playing Crash Bandicoot for a few days now.

It's fun and all, and haven't given it too many hours yet, but... I really suck at that game! I must be the fastest person to lose 15+ lives in matter of minutes just because I don't seem to manage to get past some places in the levels. *groans*

Oh well, practise makes a master, and I can tell I'm improving. (I played that game a lot some years ago, but it's been a while...)

It's fun, though. Challenging. The only problem is that I get really wound up and angry about making such stupid mistakes all the time :roll:

TV.com :: FlashForward

Currently watching the show FlashForward.

I like it. A lot. It's just down my alley, and for now, the episodes have been very good (watched 1-4 today, and will continue with a few more tonight, I think).

A lot of familiar faces in this show, too.

The plot has a lot of potential, and although they maybe drag their feet a little... it's not too bad. There's a lot of interesting stuff and great issues underway.

GameSpot :: Wipeout - old vs. new

I've been playing the Playstation 1's Wipeout XL (Wipeout 2097) for a few days now, and then wanted to try the newer PS2 game, Wipeout Pulse.

My thoughts?

What did you do to my game?!

Wipeout Pulse looks quite terrible (sure, in the old PS1 game it's all pixels and stuff, but the new one looks like a bright, colorful shiny world; it's like the difference between old and new cartoons and animation).

I've got used to the old Wipeout, and the new one was maddeningly difficult to control, and I much more prefer the old one. Sure, it could be the lack of practise and all, but... For now, I'm voting for the old one, definitely!
