I Own an SNES, but I don't Think it's Worth it.

Yes it's true. I now officially have an SNES. My Dad has a friend who's been playing games since as long as I can remember. He had a spare SNES and decided to give it to me. I was really excited when I first hooked it up. But after playing through all the games, it's really not worth owning.

Don't get me wrong though, Super Mario World and Donkey Kong Country are great games. But there's the problem, I already own those games on the Game Boy and have already beaten them. The other games are either average or flat-out bad.

Final Fantasy II- To be honest, I found this game really boring.

Killer Instinct- Reminds me of Mortal Kombat, and I guess it was influenced by it. It's actually a decent fighting game.

King Arthur's World- Wow this was bad. I pressed every button and nothing happened, I don't even think I was able to move.

Super Empire Strikes Back- No matter what I do I can never get passed the first level, it's just way too hard.

Lock On- A flight simulator game that's actually ok, but really repetitive.

Bugs Bunny Rabbit Rampage- It's pretty mediocre, the visuals are nice but it's pretty frustrating.

I'm thinking of giving this back. Because most of the games aren't good, and some are ones that I already own that are ports of the originals. I guess you had to be around when it was first released. But today it doesn't seem worth owning unless you're one of those old school gamers that got it on launch day.

Caught up in the Metal Gear Hype.

Lots of people right now are all excited for the upcoming release of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. All this hype got me interested in the Metal Gear games recently.

Since yesterday was my birthday, I got Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, and Meat Gear Solid 2: Substance. So far the first Metal Gear Solid is a pretty sweet game, it's a hard game, but still fun. I can honestly say that the Metal Gear games have the best plots I've ever seen in a game, they sort of connect to current events going around the world today like terrorism and nuclear weapons. The layout and designs are neat, controls are kind of hard but you get used to them after awhile. Overall, I can see why everyone's excited for latest installment. I recommend you check out the Metal Gear franchise and see if you like it.

I kind of wish I had a PS3 just to play Metal Gear Solid 4.

Early Birthday Gifts.

My actual birthday is two days away, but since I have exams all through that week my family decided to celebrate today. We went out for dinner to this steak place that was really nice, and of course had cake when we got back home.

Here's what I got today.

Half Life 1: Anthology for PC - Half Life 1: Anthology PC Game - Half Life 1: Anthology Computer Game

This is Half-Life 1: Anthology. It contains Half-Life, Half-Life: Opposing Force, Half-Life: Blue Shift, and the original Team Fortress. I now officially own the entire Half-Life saga. It's really fun and all, but I hate using a mouse and keyboard and it seems that a regular controller would be much better. I guess it's something I have to get used too, but either way this is a great game package.

No More Heroes for WII - No More Heroes Wii - No More Heroes WII Game

I finally got No More Heroes today as well. I have nothing say about it right now because my Wii is kind of broken. Every time I put it in, the error screen keeps popping up. The same thing happens with Super Smash Bros. Brawl, but I didn't think it would happen so quickly with No More Heroes. Maybe tomorrow it will work.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

I'm sure a lot of us have seen the latest Indiana Jones film that came out over the weekend. For me, I was so excited. Indiana Jones being one the greatest movie heroes in film history was enough to get everyone excited for the return of a great icon from the 1980's.

After seeing the film, well... lets just say that this is no Raiders of the Lost Ark. I think the whole transition of changing the times was a problem. In the last films he fought Nazis, but in this one he's fighting Communists. Plus this one wasn't as epic, and the plot and suspense itself wasn't that good either. There was plenty of action though, lots of it to be exact. The action scenes made up for most of the faults in the film.

So in conclusion, this isn't the best Indiana Jones, but it's still a decent film.

Finished the Half-Life 2 Saga.

After playing through Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Episode One, and Half-Life 2: Episode Two, all I can say is that those were the best shooters I have ever played.

Half-Life was one of the first revolutionary 3D first-person shooters released way back in 1998, it's setting and environment would later influence future games such as Halo and BioShock. It basically set the standards for modern shooting games, and it's definitely a significant game that holds a spot in video game history.

The next game which is Half-Life 2: Episode Three, as far as we know is still in development. Hopefully it will be at this years E3, but most think that it won't be released until perhaps next year or later. Either way I'm looking forward to it.

If you love shooters, I highly recommend you check out the Half-Life games.

Grand Theft Auto IV.

It sure has been awhile, GameSpot has been kind of dull for me lately so that's the main reason why I haven't been around. I've mostly been playing Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Half-Life 2. I plan to get Mario Kart Wii sometime this week or this weekend.

Now, we all know today's the Grand Theft Auto IV launch. I'm actually not a fan of the franchise, although I have played Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas which was pretty good, a bit overrated but still good.

But Grand Theft Auto IV has been receiving perfect scores from nearly everyone. Yes, I'm sure it's a good game, but a perfect game is a long stretch because there's really no such thing as a perfect game no matter how great it is.

Well, you got to hand to Rockstar. They managed to make one of the few games to recieve perfect scores, so a big congrats to them and all the people who worked on it.

Happy Easter.

It's been awhile, I have been playing a lot of Super Smash Bros. Brawl so that's the main reason why I haven't been as active as usual.

Anyway, today is Easter Sunday. Mine was alright, I got a basket of Easter candy and that's pretty good, other than that not much else happened.

I wish everyone else had a great Easter today.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

I got Super Smash Bros. Brawl today, and it's simply the most fantastic fighting game I have ever played. What's really interesting is that there are four ways to play it, I use the GameCube controller because I'm so used to it after playing Super Smash Bros. Melee so much. The controls, graphics, and sound are all great, so there's barely any flaws throughout the game.

I highly recommend you get this game, it's definitely worth the wait. I'll write a review of it soon, after I'm done writing reviews for all the Mario games.

Just to Clear Things Up.

Since there's so much snow outside, the state of Ohio has advised everyone to stay inside. My parents figured I'd be bored out of my wits if I didn't have anything to do so I'm temporarily back.

GameSpot reviewed Super Smash Bros. Brawl, giving it a 9.5/10, no surprises there. I can't wait to get this tomorrow, but since there's so much snow outside it's going to be tough to get to the stores and get a copy.

So it's just the weekends where I can have some of my privileges back, so you probably won't see me when the week starts. Sorry for the confusion.

Leaving for Awhile.

I haven't been doing good in school, and I'm leaving so I can catch up on my work. I will come back eventually, I don't know when, but like I said eventually.
