The man of your dreams; Freddy Krueger is back after a seven year absence. The original Nightmare on Elm Street is my favorite slasher film ever. When I heard that a re-make was coming out, I was excited but honestly I really wasn't expecting much.

But after seeing it, I can say it's actually quite a good movie. It was definitely scary, and it paid homages to the original. This is the first Nightmare on Elm Street without Robert Englund, who has played Freddy Krueger in every entry. Jackie Earle Haley takes the role and does a fantastic job. Surprisingly there's a good supporting cast as well, which came to me as a surprise since normally they're all annoying and find yourself literally rooting for the killer throughout the whole movie. Another surprising thing in this movie is that there's no drugs, alcohol, or nudity. All three are common in slasher films, but I guess the impossible can happen. :P The only thing I didn't like was that they changed Freddy's back story on how he became a killer.

So overall it's a pretty good movie. The original is still the best, but this is a worthy re-make of a horror classic.
