Movie Recommendation #27.

Since it's Halloween, here's a cult classic horror film you should check out.

Movie: The Evil Dead, 1981.

Plot: Five friends are making their way through the Tennessee wilderness to a small cabin they've rented for a vacation from college. Once at the cabin, the group settles in and are looking forward to having a great time together. Upon exploring the cabin, the group discovers a strange book, and a tape recorder from the previous occupant. Turning on the tape recorder, the previous occupant was apparently an archaeologist that had discovered an ancient relic called "The Book of the Dead." Out of curiosity and fascination, the group continues to listen to the recording. The archaeologist begins to recite a passage from the book, which awakens the demons and evil within mankind's domain. The evil spirits begin to slowly pick off members of the group one by one through demonic possession. Those who are still human are now in a fight for their lives, and must find a way to escape the cabin before it's too late.

One of the most creative, shocking and suspenseful films ever conceived, The Evil Dead launched the careers of director Sam Raimi, and actor Bruce Campbell. The Evil Dead was later followed by two sequels (Evil Dead II, 1987 and Army of Darkness, 1992) that also received critical acclaim. Whether you like horror movies or not, The Evil Dead is terrifying adventure with lots of action and gore to keep you asking for more.
