Movie: Alien, 1979

A commercial towing ship called the Nostromo is heading back to Earth after a routine excavation for fossil fuels back to the company which it works for.  The ship's main computer nicknamed "Mother" by the ship's crew stops the course to Earth, and wakes up the crew.  The crew realize that the reason Mother has stopped the course is to investigate a mysterious tranmission from a cold isolated planet.  The Nostromo lands and a party is sent out on to the surface to find where the single is coming from.  The party soon finds a wreaked alien space craft and go inside to investigate it, while inside they discover a cave which is filled with mysterious eggs.  Suddenly one of the eggs hatches and a small parasite comes out and wraps itself around one of the crewman's faces.  The strange organism can't be removed without killing the crewman, but when the strange lifeform appears to fall off the crewman's face and dies, the crew is glad the incident is over.  But for the Nostromo crew the horror is far from over as a seemingly unstoppable monster has found a way the ship.

This is the greatest movie to combine sci-fi and horror making it one of the greatest movies ever made.  With great special effects, acting, plot, and suspense, Alien is a classic to remember.
