I can only speak about things from my perspective as a gamer in India. I feel like Nintendo really doesnt take much effort in terms of understanding the Indian market or maybe feel like its not worth the effort to make any sort of aggressive push over here. The biggest issue with them over here is the pricing and lack of accessibility when it comes to their consoles or games. When it comes to the 3ds its easy enough to find games or the handheld device itself. Not so easy with their home consoles. To put things in perspective (Im talking in Rupees which is the Indian currency) the PS4 pro costs 41,990. The XB1 X costs 44,990. The Switch costs 40,990. These are just the consoles not bundles. While the PS4 slim costs around 28,000 upto 32,000 depending on what bundle you choose. The XB1 S costs between 24,000 upto 34,000 again depending on which bundle you choose. The later two I couldnt find just the console prices for the standalone product. So for me the price is usually the biggest stumbling block when it comes to Nintendo. Not sure how much the cost of the switch is abroad in comparison to its competitors, but over here its a huge reason why no one I know owns a Switch yet.

To be clear I dont hate, or even dislike Nintendo. I really loved the Wii, was genuinely sad that the WiiU was a flop and look forward to buying a Switch when the price comes down a little bit. By the end of the last generation I had all three systems the PS3, the 360 and the wii and it was actually my PS3 that got used the least. Mainly because it was the last of the three I got but also because I didnt like its online ecosystem at the time. This generation I started with the Xbox one. Before you guys get ready to pounce, I should let you know that Microsoft is the only company here that has fantastic customer support. During the last generation I had RROD and the console was replaced within a few days. I later had a console replaced because the disc tray was jammed and even had a hard disc replaced. Now while that doesnt say much about the quality of the 360s build, it did show me that Microsoft was very responsive whenever I had any issues. All these replacements were done within 5 to 6 days. I would be lying if I said that didnt factor into my decision to start with the Xbox 1 this generation.

As far as the issue that people have with Nintendo fans wanting to play the same 5 games over and over again. Its not really something I get. The way I see it all consoles have a set of games that fans buy the console for. Sony is the company that has seen the most change in this regard if you go all the way back to the ps1 and ps2 days. But when it comes to microsoft for example, I love Halo and Gears of War( I know im feeding into a steriotype, but it is what it is). I like those franchises a lot and its why I bought the Xbox1. Similarly I want to play games like Xenoblade, Mario and Metroid(I sincerly hope they have one in development for this gen) when I get around to buying a Switch. Moving from PS2 to the PS3 I wanted to play Killzone 2&3 and always loved God of War. If I ever get a PS4 the first thing I will play will most likely be Uncharted 4 and the sequel to the Last of Us. What Im trying to say is that to me it seems like whatever your console of choice is, you usually buy it to play newer versions of games that youve already played on the previous generation, with the hopes that there will be new IPs added to that list as well. So I cant really understand the criticism Nintendo gets in terms of having the same games every generation because I feel like its true to a certain extent with all the console makers, with the Playstation having the biggest changes to their established line ups between the PS2 and PS3 most likely due to the fact that franchises like Final Fantasy and Metal Gear went on to become Multi Platform games.

There are however areas where I feel like Nintendo could certainly do better. The recent news about their consoles getting bricked with a new update because of 3rd party accessories is something I cant say I really like. I know a lot of people will say that you need to stick to 1st party products only, but Ive never seen this as an issue with Sony or Microsoft. Ive used 3rd party peripherals and hard drives with these consoles and it has never been an issue. The other thing I dont like about Nintendo is the manner in which they handle streamers and youtubers, to me this really shows how they are a bit behind the times with their perspective on the online world. I cant speak about the online play of the Switch since I dont have one yet, but from what Ive heard its not as good as the PSN or Xbox Live.
