How to open a Xbox 360

Note: This will void your warranty! this will void your warranty if you open up your 360. If you get any kind of error messages; rrod, E74, Microsoft will not fix it if opened. your either going to have to fix it yourself or find someone who could if your warranty is void.

Things you will need:

1. torx screw driver size 8 and 10. Size 8 is for removing the power button/ring of light.

2. a flat head screw driver

1: remove accessories faceplate. Remove any accessories you have connected to your 360. remove your faceplate. I usually put my fingers in where the USB ports are and pull out.

2: Take the side grills off. Inside the vent holes on the top and bottom of the 360 there are clips on the grills. what your going to have to do is take something that could fit in there and popping the clips off. I use a small torx size screw driver for this. there are six clips to undo. put the screw driver in the following holes.

holes top

bottom

you don't have to peel the grey spong things off of the 360. I start by the hard drive side first. i usually just pull up on the first set of holes because they come off easier then poking the holes. also hold the grey thing up when poking holes as it does sometimes close, so u will have to restart.

3. Taking the case apart. I take a screw driver to the back of the 360. i put my fingers where the grills would be and pull with my index and thumb fingers.

back 360

4. Unclipping the front. Once I am done with the back I unclip the front clips. once that is done the 360 should come right off. now you should have half a case and a metal cage.

5. Removing the other half. Your are going to need a torx screw driver for this size 10. Remove the eject button from the disc drive. start unscrewing the following screws.

Once that is done flip the 360 over and you should have your 360 open. it should look like this now.your drive is going to be different then other peoples drive.

Reminder Note: This will void your warranty. Do not do this if you want Microsoft to fix your 360 when it breaks. If your 360 breaks from anything rrod, E74 Microsoft will not fix it if it does break.
