I should have been a game reviewer. The main reviews they have for The Godfather Game, and Silent Hill 2 really miss the mark.
In the Godfather review, the guy says that combat with mouse and PC is "at best, clumsy" or something like that. I'm tempted to post video of myself clearing out a warehouse of 20 sergeants with just a pistol, because of how dead on you can be with both mouse, and auto-aim. It's very HongKong theater, and very fun.
In the Silent Hill 2 review, the guy says that despite the spooky ambience, nothing is ever scary. Now, it's true, only a once or twice does something actually "pop-out" at you. But you know what? That is the cheap way to produce horror. It's an overused trick, that adds nothing to a game for me. Silent Hill is a psychological horror. It messes with your mind. When you get into it, you see things that aren't there. And then the times there really is something there, it makes it all the more powerful. The best is when it's so dark, and you turn around, and the enemy you've only been able to hear is actually right there in kicking distance.
I should have been a game reviewer. I wonder if the money is good.
