There have been some *good* games to come out of Ninty this gen, but the only one even close to groundbreaking is Metroid Prime.
WindWaker is a total rehash of OoT. Almost every boss fight and environment is a direct rip of OoT. It was fun, but it wasn't even close to original.
SSBM, duh... just another SSB. Albeit the best.
Paper Mario... not all that different from the first. Though obviously still good.
MP takes a hit on the grounds that MP2 was such a "play it safe" game. MP did a lot of cool stuff, but MP2 was nothing but MP with different maps and an ammo system.
Fire Emblem is almost exactly the same as it's been since FE:4.
Super Mario Sunshine... not much different from Mario64, honestly.
I'd be hard-pressed to say Nintendo hasn't had some of the best games of this gen, but when it comes to the most original games... meh... they've certainly taken a step back in terms of taking a chance with radically different games.
Warp_2567
but my question was... how many ledgendary games did ms or sony make
must I remind you that they have lots of third party support to fall back on?
If Nintendo can't make legendary first party games, Nintendo is finished
Gamecube era was their doom if you ask me - I should also mention that gamecube made the most money, and they have actually got more people working for them then they did with N64. So teh doomed indeed.
They made some pretty nice portable games for the DS
Advance wars (2nd party) AAA
Nintendogs (1st party) AAA
Mario kart DS (1st party) AAA
Mario and luigi : Partners in time (2nd party)Â high AA
They aren't slogging on their game development. Especially with innovative systems.
I don't care I much nintendo made on Gamecube
What I care is "did they make a single game that changed the industry forever?"
Nope
N64 prolly made less money than GC, but it was the greatest console since NES because it had so many revolutionary games.
what does GC have? none
Nintendo is no longer able to influence the industry and they are going to be crushed by MS
so what is the point of this topic? did ms make any games that changed the industry forever?
NO
did they even make any games?
NO
did third party make any games for xbox that changed the industry forever?
NO
u want to talk about rehashes?
halo 1 an ordinary FPS with vehicles and a futuristic theme.
halo 2... a rehash of halo 1 with a worse campain mode and online enabled (which has already been done with FPS.
halo 3... probably alot like halo 2 only with better graphics
hey man! console fps were never the same after halo. halo made console fps popular! (except for pc ppl... they already knew about fps)
although I am a avid Halo fan, I must point out that you are wrong
Goldeneye (Rareware) made console FPS popular, not Halo
o yea thats right i forgot about that one! haha but i still stand by halo as the one that made console fps popular cause i dont remember fps becoming wildly popular after goldeneye but goldeneye contributed a lot tho that's true.
Goldeneye sold about 8 million copies. that's more than Halo 2
But it's true that console FPS weren't as popular as these days
Halo is popular because of the casuals. If you asked real gamers what the best console FPS was, or what made console FPS popular (amongst real gamers) they would say goldeneye. Btw goldeneye is legendary, halo isn't
I think Halo is considered a legendary game. While Goldeneye defined and revolutionized the FPS genre, Halo redefined it and made it even more popular. Not really. It did make FPS more popular, but didn't redefine the genre.
