If you want Tales of Symphonia with a deeper story, I recommend Tales of the Abyss. It damn near surpassed Symphonia in every aspect of it's execution, and to this day has one of the most memorable plots in RPG history. You do need a PS2 for it though so ....
In regards to the topic, I don't mind if more games have pirates in them. Pirates are cool!!! 8)
