As compared to all the drama in the U.S and the cl@ss in Britain - not to mention all the governance issues in Japan as well as Democratic protests in various other countries - yeah , politics in my country can be pretty dull.
Whilst the act of "Pointing 'da finger" does exist here , particularly in opposing parties of the PAP , the things said tends to be pretty much the same.
"Whose at fault for the high taxes!?" "Where did the money of our people go to!?"
.... *cough*
Anyways , as for the PAP , they would go on about their promises for the people and play it out nicely. Saying that they would build this , write this , issue this and rebuild this. In the end - one can clearly see that the laws doesn't really change even if the ENVIRONMENT changes. Taxes are still sky-high ( It's funny , really , water fees in my household is only around 100 dollars , but the electrical fees is 500+? Screw that! ) , building prices are abominable , the influx of foreign workers is still of an unacceptable level and soon enough , they'd issue an interview to explain it all off.
Not to mention we have too little seasoned politicians on opposing parties. They lack the ability to sweet-talk and compose actual ; feasible plans for the future of the country. They've managed to grasp our attention when the words taxes were mentioned but I don't really think lowering our military funds to enchance quality of living is a good idea.
Essentially , most of the elections are dull and boring. The results tends to be the same. Politicians with ambitions but weak schemes and plans will never be chosen , the older citizens of Singapore would ALWAYS choose the PAP and personally , whilst the Worker's Party ( The largest and most popular opposing party - their really powerful in the past but was weakened as time went by - but their starting to get stronger again ) may have pointed out some reasonable issues in our countries - a majority of their supporters are solely youths.
Well , the next General Elections might take a twist but I'm not keeping my hopes up. The people are naive and politicians of opposing parties in this country lacks proper judgement and feasible plans for the country.
They may point out all the faults of the current governance - but it means nothing if they can only criticise and not construct the future of our country.
