So i am late here, very very late, but i only just bothered to get DMC4 and i finished it yesterday. It was a bad idea playing this after playing Bayonetta thats for sure, i spent half the time complaining there was no dodge button and about the jumping.
So really an overview about what i thought of the entire game as a whole would be that, i enjoyed the story and cutscenes. while the music was very lacking and the combat felt very dated. Mixed in with the basic gameplay there were just small annoyances throughout the game which really hampered my experiance with the game; Platforming sections with terrible jump hight and camera angles and annoying board games which force you to go around the board until you roll the exact right number.
I remember alot of people complaining about Nero, but i didnt mind him, I thought it was funny that he was voiced by the same person who did the voice of Adachi from Persona 4, and the character himself was fine by me, he was more likeable then dante imo even if he wasnt 1/100th of the bad ass Dante is. The only problems i really had wit Nero was that his combat was just way too simple, there was no depth to his skill set when compared to Dante who got multiple weapons and move styIes.
The problem with the Dante section of the game is that it was so small and he only got to go backwards through all the levels i played through before with Nero.
Then there were only like 6 different bosses in the game and the final boss being the worst of those bosses was just horribly dissappointing.
Its just annoying when you play through a game and you can think of so many things which could and should have been done differently, I wonder whether or not the devs bothered to play it themselves and decide if it was a good idea or not.
Anyway to put it bluntly, I have very little love for the DMC series anymore, so i wont be holding my breath for 5.
I am going to go back to praying for Bayonetta 2 now.
