Hey, whats happening fellow peeps of the Spot? It's been a while, hasn't it? Well I have no good excuses as to why I haven't blogged lately (I have plenty poor excuses, though) other than lack of motivation. That and I've been busy trying to whittle down a 200 game backlog of unbeaten games. So although I hate these type of blogs, I'll just be writing about whats been happening lately, what I've been playing, and p'raps a few impressions of some new purchases.
Ok, well get the obligatory retro gaming junk out of the way first. Ever since I got my 360 back ('twas about two weeks ago), the retro gaming has seen a slight dwindlance (that's right, dwindlance), although I've still been trying to beat most of the games. One game in particular that I have been playing like crazy though is Caveman Games for the good ol' NES. It's basically Olympic Games, but featuring hairy guys with funnier names (ahh, good ol' Thag the caveman). One of the highlights of this game though is the mate toss, where your choice of cavemen spin a woman around and then try to throw her as far as possible. I don't know how Nintendo quality control let out a game featuring spousal abuse, but they did, and we're all better off because of it.
Other than that, I've been playing a ton of NHL 94. I pretty much played this game exclusively for the two months my 360 was broken, and I still haven't gotten tired of it. In fact, I think it may be one of my favorite games of all time. Yes, it's really that good. Like NFL 2K5 good. Even if you don't own a Genesis or SNES, you can still play it on NHL 2006 for the PS2. So go get this game. Or I won't love you. And you don't want me to not love you, do you?
Ok, now on to some current gen gaming. Well, as I've said about three times already (just repeating for the reading comprehension challenged among us :P ) my 360s back, and I've been doing some serious gaming on that bad boy. I got GTAIV, and to my surprise, I think it's great. I didn't really like any of the other entries at all, but I was really surprised by IV. Everything from the driving to the characters, and especially the city itself, is much more realistic and believable, and I really like what the story is trying to get across. So yeah, I was really surprised by this game. Other than that, I rebought DiRT and Shadowrun. I finally beat DiRT and am starting to get back into SR multiplayer, and both games seem to be even more fun than I remember them being. If you see me online and want to play anygame multiplayer, give me an invite, and as long as it isn't my brother playing, I'll join with you. It's been a loooong time since I played any multiplayer with you guys.
I also finally started Eternal Darkness for the Gamecube, and man is that game good. The storyline is incredible, the combat is good, and the creepy atmosphere is one of the best I've seen in a game. Definitley woth your time if you can find it, as it's not too common, but it's not too expensive either.
Yesterday was a Fatman Monday, which is what albedos_shadow and I (oh yeah, and that weird JJ guy from all of our video blogs and music videos) call our gaming get togethers. Yesterday, we decided to go through all my games and pull out all the ones that I've never even played, and play a little bit of each. Some were amazingly good (Oddworld Strangers Wrath, Deus Ex), some were amazingly terrible (Atomic Runner, Cabelas Deer Hunt) and some... well, they defy description, mixing some nonsense about wind, dinosaurs, naked blue women, and pirates all into one game, all while keeping a straight face.
Well, I just felt like writing a blog today, so there you go. Since this was pretty bland, I'll leave you guys a question:
What's the most unintentionally bad/hilarious game you've ever played?
