Seeing as I just bought FFXIII today, I'll be holding off on any other games since nothing really interests me (except for DAO:Awakening, but I might skip that). But if I really have to name a game, I'd say Starcraft II: WoL
I highly value content such as a good story line, etc. over graphics. A game may have the most amazing graphics in the world but if the story and gameplay are a failure then the entire game is an epic fail to me.
The obvious answer to this question is: It depends on the game.
I'm not huge in gaming so when a game that I actually like comes out, I just buy it brand new (such asDA:O, Mass Effect 2, Heavy Rain, FFXIII, etc..). Used game prices don't dropby much unless you wait almost a year to buy them (I don't like buying games online so that excludes the bargain deals found in Amazon, Ebay, etc). For example, even though the game came out way back in Novermber, a used version of Dragon Age: Originsstill sells at $65.00, while its new version is around $70.00. In my opinion, mught as well buy the game brand new.
reasons why I think Final Fantasy 13 is hyped up too much
1. the female character Lightning
2. black dude and his afro and the baby chocobo- dumb idea
3. game's look is way too sci fi
4. the recent tv commercials has a too much pop artish song with min videos combing together to form a screenshot photo of the main female character
Those are really shallow reasons you've pointed out, I must say. 1. Got anything agains female leads? Why does it always have to be male? It's good to see some variety, you know. And who cares if her name is Lightning? It's much better than something common like Anna. 2. What's wrong with having a black character with an afro? It's about time games start including non-Caucasian characters. Chocobos? If you haven't noticed, they've been in a number of Final Fantasy games. 3. Sci-fi? If you would only open your mind a little, Final Fantasy games have always had a slight mix of sci-fi and fantasy in them. 4. TV commercials are hardly good representations of the actual game. 2 minute commercial vs. 60 hour gameplay... I'm sure you can figure that out for yourself.
Baldur's Gate series hands down (particularly Shadows of Amn). I did enjoy Diablo I& II's online multiplayer but it wasn't enough for me.. and I didn't like Icewind Dale at all.
