like the upper posts said, be patient. this is the first metal gear anyways, if you're looking for a better graphic representation the twin snakes one one gamecube is better.. but they're still the same metal gear. on the boxes it says. "tactical espionage action" so you won't always be running in gung-ho. MGS2 you'll start picking up more ways to be sneaky and you'll see a huge leap in gameplay from the first.. that's probably what made everything so great.
in my opinion the boss fights are the best, and as the story unfolds you'll want more. just be patient and maybe practice some? 15 mins to get to elevator ouch. but yeah its mostly a stealth type game.. MGS3 and MGS4 seem to break the mold just a tad, so as you go on IT WILL GET BETTER. you also got the essential collection which means you didn't get the normal games, you got the extra bonus games which are generally better with options. hang in there.
obviously the one without meryl isn't the real ending, but its and ending none the less but the "you failed" type. but i understand what you mean, i mean everybody has to have gone back and at least not submit to finish the game the way it was suppose too.
and about snake's face, i believe as you play the game, your actions can give snake's physical appearance some altercations such as cuts and burns i think.. though not really dramatic as you play the game they should remain on him even through cutscenes.

omg yes! you'll be missing out on a crucial aspect that is metal gear. in my opinion the best storylines came from MGS1 and MGS3, MGS2.. it took me a couple playthroughs to actually understand everything and what Kojima was trying to get across, but they are definite must plays if you're thinking about getting MGS4. Everything from those games will tie in together here.
I'd suggest you get the game that has all 3 games that was recently released so you can get caught up in time for the 4th. Trust me you'll enjoy MGS4 much more.
Alright thanks. I guess i'm just impatient, for all that it's a great price i just didn't want to miss out on the oppurtunity in getting one and have them all sell out. I'm kinda trying to decide to just got the 40GB one since GTA4 is coming out soon, but i'll know i'll kick myself if i don't wait. Only real thing stopping me i guess is the backward compatibility.
And i guess another thing is when MGS4 does come out June 12th, would all the bundles be there as well or just the games. I live in a semi-small town so i can sorta see that happening and like all of you i've been waiting for MGS4 and like to have it on that date. But they'll most likely have for people that pre-order if they give the option, just dunno if i'm bugging out over nothing.
I've looked around the forum some and i've got a lot of info for the MGS4 bundle.. i've actually been waiting ever since it was announced and getting really anxious about it cause this would be my first PS3 and i've been trying to hold out for as long as i could for it.
My question is.. are they pre-ordering the bundle now or soon? Last i heard it'd be sometimes in April but i haven't seen any sites yet, my last option would to be go to my local Gamestop and ask, but i think i'd ask people here first that may know.
