EIDOS... You Flithy F*cking Liars

I caught on to this the other day when clicking through IGN the other day.. but seems that I'm not the only one who noticed it..

Taken from Kotaku

klrev1.jpgIt's not like the relationship between Kane & Lynch and review scores wasn't messy enough. But now this? Visitors to the game's official site will notice, once the page's flash intro is done, that two review scores for the game are flashed for your perusal. One from GameSpy, one from Game Informer. Both look positively glowing! Both give the game a very encouraging five stars! Thing is, both are...well, not real. They're fabricated. Lies, if you will.

GameSpy did not say "It's the best emulation of being in the midst of a Michael Mann movie we've ever seen" in their review of the game. They said that in their E3 2007 coverage. In other words, a preview. They also did not give the game five stars. They gave it three.

As for Game Informer, same deal. The highlighted quote does not appear in the review of the game. Nor do they give it five stars. Game Informer don't even score in stars. They gave it a 7/10.

To assist you in correcting your error, Eidos, and you in procuring all the necessary facts, dear reader, attached below are how the two review selections should appear.

The end of Gamespot as we know it.

I don't really know where to start, but Gamespot has always been the place I go for my daily dose of Video Game news. But more importantly, the personalities that are a part of GS helped me get through the drudgery of it all. On the Spot, the Hot Spot were all meticulouslyand creatively put together week after week. I waited in hot anticipation of what the crew would bring out next. There was a time, when the site had such a superb selection of on and off air group of individuals, it felt like I was "cheating on a girlfriend or wife" to go to another site. Greg, Rich, Ryan (both of them), Bob, Brad, Brian, Alex, and most importantly, at least for me, Jeff.. This core team of people brought video game news off the page and maybe it "real" something a little less boring and a lot more visceral.

I first started coming to Gamespot because I was sick of IGN making me pay to read selected articles, so I found this site and after a while I decided to sign up for a account (they were not yet charging, at least I don't remember them charging). According to my profile it says I've been a member for just over 3 years... What encourages me the most is, like many other people that have been coming to Gamespot for years, they are all joining together to fight the debacle that is the termination of Jeff Gertsmann. I have terminated my account as this blog goes live, and hope that many of you will do the same in protest. It has been a great ride and hopefully 1up, which is where my new account is waiting for me to fill up, will be able to hold as strong a bond as Gamespot has for so many years.

I really have nothing more to say about this, if I missed anything. That is unfortunate, but I have no interest in participating in Gamespot until they give me a valid reason as to why one of my favorite writers/reviewers/person was terminated.

I cracked.. or the last 6 months of my life...

It's been awhile since my last post. So here's a heads up as to whats been going on..

I finished building my pc. final stats are as follows:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3800+, 2GB of OCZ gold ram, ATI X850XT, I'm dual-booting xp and vista ultimate, and have just under a TB of space.

So the reason i "cracked" is cuz i got myself a psp.. yep i did it.. went into EB, laid 2 bills on the counter and got it.. and so far, i absolutly love it.. it can be uncomfortable at times but its still pretty sick. Im playing puzzle quest at the moment and its sh*t ass hard. I literally couldnt beat a bat for 16 times in a row.. talk about aggravating..

I also bought Forza 2, DiRT, and the Bigs.. all very cool...

Later

6 months later

So it's been about six months since I've posted last. I've since then gotten a new job, got an xbox 360, had a girlfriend, broke up with a girlfriend, beat a ton of games, and in about one long run on sentance I have recapped my entire summer and the last half of 2006.. wow.. I'm building a new PC right now.. Dual Core AMD athlon 3800+.. gig of ram, total of 210 gb of hdd.. sound blaster fatal1ty, and an x1900xt... its going to be sweet... :D anyhow it's 1:30 where i am and that means bed time cuz i've got work tomorrow.. later peoples..

Superman Returns...

... and boy does he return. To start, I had great expectations for this film and they were met at every juncture.. The story is classic superman, the characters are fantastic, Brandon Routh is an absolutly wonderful addition to the Superman realm.. Kate Bosworth is a little stale but she pulls off Lois very well.. Kevin Spacey is so superbly evil as Lex and it fits so well.. (edit i have no idea how to fix the stupid yellow non-link, grr) it was also good to see James Marsden in a role that actually fit him.. It seemed that he couldn't act from the way Cyclops was.. but i digress...The plot unravels at a quick pace which is good cuz it's a 2 and a half hour flick..All in all it's a fantastic, i guess sequel.. It does so many right things that it outweighs the bad.. except for the just plain stupid looking CG superman.. i mean to the untrained eye.. it might look real, but the second it was on screen i was like.. oh god, this is terrible.. but it really preformed.. So I implore you.. go, get off your chair, go down to your megaplex, cineplex, loews, w/e and buy a ticket.. be a kid again, believe a man can fly, and then go get another ticket and see it in IMAX.. ;)

X360 Marketplace

As most of you know, there's a little thing called XBL and attached to the Live there's the marketplace.. Which Peter Moore, and his associates last year at E3 stated.. all public like.. that there would be downloadable content to your games.. at a price.. My question to anyone who cares, and or reads this.. is as follows.. Why must people complain so adamantly that the cost of a couple of extra maps is too expensive? Sure you've already paid 60 - 80 dollars for the game depending on where you live.. I agree it's expensive.. however you should also relize that it costs money to produce that extra content for you.. They did it last year with the Halo Map Packs.. It cost 20 bucks and you got it at the store.. Now what difference is that to an entirely new set of weapons, outfits, and maps for only approx. 15 dollars? I'll tell you.. The only difference is that you don't get a disc that you use once and never again.. If you don't like the cost of the extra content.. No one is forcing you to buy it.. So don't... It's quite simple.. You have the choice to buy a couple maps, or a whole new chapter, or even an entirely new quest.. Whatever that may be.. My point here today is that people need to stop complaining about the marketplace.. Embrace it for you will never need to get a demo disc.. You will never need to go to the store for expansion packs.. (that's what they are.. PC owners have been buying them for years.) Just stop the complaining it serves no purpose..

That's it i'm done...

Reservoir Dogs game banned in Australia

If you haven't read yet.. http://www.gamespot.com/news/6153207.html Australia has banned yet another game.. seems tho, that this one HASN'T EVEN COME OUT YET.. I mean seriously what the hell is wrong with them? Is there a single game that YOU can play down under? Let's look at some games.. Kameo, you can see her panties.. Should that be banned? GRAW, they swear.. oh... what's that? Barney and Friends for the SEGA Genesis is ok.. ... Oh I see.. Have they banned Mario? I mean he's a stereotypical italian pasta fat man.. Is that not ban worthy? Australia.. Get it together  stop banning games and start being more responsible.. Teach your children that killing and stuff is wrong..

Microsoft PR rep: No 360 price drop this fall

Really? Are you sure? Yes? Oh... Well in that case.... how about a big fat DUH!!! You can't honestly tell me that you actually thought M$ was gonna drop the price of the 360 this year... You can try.. but why bother? The Playscam 3 is coming out at a 100 dollars MORE then the 360.. With that in place.. you have no reason to drop the console's price.. I mean sure the Wii is gonna be two - two fifty.. but they're playing in a different band.. or orchestra as it may be.. With SONY and M$ trying to duke it out, SONY is doing the most incredibly stupid thing.. or perhaps, the most ingenious smartest thing.. Because if you look at the cost of HD-DVD and Blu-Ray players, 360 owners (myself included) will have to decide whether it's a good idea to purchase the HD player.. I, myself will wait and see what happens to the next gen of DVDs. I'm not commiting to anything just yet.. But for people to actually believe that the 360 was going to drop anytime soon, especially since Halo 3 was and annouced and on top of the fact that the PS3 is gonna cost a hundred bucks more.. Suck it up, and if you absolutly have to have a 360.. Just pay the money and be done with it..

Resident Evil 4

My God... This game is absolutly perfect.. I give a 15 out of 10... The controls... amazing, the camera better than anything ive seen recently, the graphics stunning, the only issue I have is the non-ability to strafe.. but i digress... This game is perfect, that's all...
