Save a turkey eat some tofu

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday and for those of you who don't celebrate I hope you have a wonderful day.

Things that I'm thankful of......let me think

1. I have a wonderful family who love and whoaccept me for who Iam (although I haven't seen any of them in 3 years :( )

2. My cats....no seriously if i didn't have my cats to take care of I would probably never leave the house. ( funny they will be eating real turkey this year (frisky brand.) I on the other hand will be having tofu turkey. I'm vegetarian for those not in know.)

3. My boyfriend whos been my friend for over 5 years now and we have been dating a little over 3. He's seen me at my worst and at my best.

4.Video games.....yeah I know it seems lame to say that but for real it is. Back in the day my dad and Iwould play duck hunt on the NES and Bonk on the Turbo Grafix ( if any one knows what that is good for you.) Those are some great memories. My dad is also a huge PC gamer and makes sure I don't forget about the PC exclusive titles.

When I use to get sick when I was in school I would stay with my grandmother and my cousin would come over and play mortal kombat. He would play and I would watch while I ate my soup. To this day seeing some body get there head ripped off makes me feel better...........ummmmI may have a problem.

I joined a karate after many hours of playing Tekken 3. I become a teacher and to this day some of my best memories come from that dojo.

I can't even begin to tell you how great it is to have DS when your waiting for the doctors to call you in, or when your waiting for your car to get worked on, or when your sitting alone at a restaurant waiting for your friends to arrive.

I worked at a gamestop and made some of the greatest friends I have ever had. I also meet my boyfriend there. He was my boss at the time :D

When I was super depressed back when I was about 18 and 19. I can't even tell you how escaping into Final Fantasy games made me feel better.

When my boyfriend and I first moved in together we only had enough stuff to fill one small bedroom. So that's what we did we never used the first floor of the apartment for about 3 months until we got a couch. We didn't even have a bed for a few days. But we had a TV and a 360 I use tofall asleep to Oblivion. Now Elder Scroll games give me a lot of comfort.

When I was 17 the PS2 came out and it was super hard to get. I waited in line for it at midnight to get one and when I did I was the coolest kid in school. Everyone was like "Hey Jen, you want to hang out tonight? Oh and bring your PS2." Yeah that was my favorite time in high school. I made some amazing friends that I still hang out with to this day because of my PS2.

So to end this before it gets even longer. Video games have been in my life since day one and to not have them around me who knows what kind of person I would be now.

So to my favorite hobby I'm thankful! :)

I've been on vacation in Skyrim

The title says it all really. I haven't been on this site because I've been wondering around Skyrim for days.

For all of those who love fantasy or RPG's or open world your doing yourself a disservice by not playing this game.

My name is Nananah and i'm a level 31 wood elf. I have been wondering the far reaches of Skyrim picking flowers, fighting dragons, meeting new people and killing bandits and wildlife that feels the need to attack me. I'm a good shot with bow but can still put down a foe at close range with my sword and shield. I like exploring caves and dungeons picking locks and looting treasure. Don't get me wrong though I'm a married women and have a home in Whiterun where my wife has set up a nice shopand cooks me home cookedmeals when I come home from my many adventures. (yes I play as a girl and married a girl get over it) We have a modest home but its right next to the black smith so I can go right next door to create my own weapons and fix up the ones I already have.

I've made a lot of new friends. (and some enemies) I'm a member of the Companions, the Thieves guild and the Dark brother hood. I'm also in school it's always good to have an education. I'm in the bards college and the college atWinterhold where I'm trying to get better at my magic. I like to stay busy and keep traveling if you can't already tell. :P

I've recently learned about this power Ihave where I can absorb a dragons soul and use shouts. I just met with these people living way up on top of amountain called the grey beard where they taught me about this power. They also told me that I was dragon born. Isn't that crazy who would of thought. Any way I'm not going to get into that.

I have been having the most wonderful time there. And even thought there is lot of war and deathI can't stop thinking how beautiful this place is. Every time I climb to the top of a mountain it's hard not to take in the sites around me. That is if I can get over the smell of the dead troll that's only about 10 feet away from me.Well that's all for now see you guys in Skyrim.

My Blog Series

This is just going to talk about future blogs I have planned and to talk about some that I already do so people who are new to following me know what I am doing. So yeah here we go. I promise this will be short.

I have many blog series, some of which include my person spotlight where I talk about a notable figure in the gaming world. Or my character spotlight where I talk about a fictional character that is beloved by gamers. I also do many countdowns ( which I need to do another one of those it has been awhile.) I have come up with another series called "Things I hate about being a Gamer" Which will go into things that drive me crazy that most gamers do and I too might be guilty of. I hope it will be some what interesting to you. I also hope to this series will not necessarily cause a controversy but spark some people into thinking a little bit harder on there favorite hobby.

So yeah that's all for now peace out gamers. :)

People spotlight #2-Todd Howard

I figured since Skyrim is coming oh so very soon. It would be a good idea to pay some respect to one of the people behind the work of this game.

Todd Howard is the current executive producer and game director for Bethesda Softworks and is also the executive producer for The Elder Scrolls series and Fallout 3.

Todd Howard graduated from Emmaus High School in 1989 in Emmaus, Pennsylvania. He graduated from The College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia four years later and majored in finance. The following year, he joined the Bethesda development studio.

Game of the Year

Batman: Arkham City
Portal 2
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

I think these are all great choices and a wide variety of games. Of course I favor Skyrim but hey that's just me. Who knows who will win with such great games. Looks like this year had some great games indeed.

Most Anticpated Game

BioShock Infinite
Diablo III
Halo 4
Mass Effect 3
The Last Guardian

Another tough one don't you think.

Well that's all for today see ya gamers.

My new favorite web series

I don't know about all of you guys but I love media that is funny and smart. If you guys feel so inclined you should check out this guys videos he has like 18episodes now and comes out with more every other Thursday. It's freaking fantastic. I love them so when you bored and have the time check out some of his videos.

It's called game theory. I wish more people made videos like him.:D

Respect your elders-people spotlight

That's right kids it's time to pay some respect your elders. I'm talking about a man named Ralph H. Baer also known as the father of video games, never heard of him. For shame. It's time for a history lesson. Without this man who knows what our hobbies would be. We all might be doing something lame like collecting molds and fungus. (yeah I stole that from Ghostbusters so sue me.)

Mr. Baer was born on March 8th 1922. He is a video game pioneer, inventor, engineer. He is noted for his many contributions to games and the video game industry. In 2006, he was awarded the National Medal of Technology for inventing the home console for video games and spawning the video game industry. (see what I mean about our hobby now. What a great man.)

Baer started development of the "Brown Box" console video game system and several other prototypes in 1966 for the defense-electronics company Sanders Associates in Nashua, New Hampshire (now part of BAE Systems). In 1971, it was licensed to Magnavox, and after being renamed Magnavox Odyssey, the console was released to the public in 1972. Many in the company looked down on game development.

Baer created the first light gun and game for home television use, sold grouped with a game expansion pack for the Odyssey, and collectively known as the Shooting Gallery. The light gun itself was the first peripheral for a video game console.

Another invention is Simon, an electronic pattern-matching game that was immensely popular in the late 1970s and 1980s.

Here is some of his awards.

In 2005, at G4's video game award show G-Phoria, Baer received a Legend Award for his work in the development of video games.

On February 13, 2006, Baer was given a National Medal of Technology by President George W. Bush, in honor of his "groundbreaking and pioneering creation, development and commercialization of interactive video games".

In 2008, Baer received the IEEE Masaru Ibuka Consumer Electronics Award. He received the Pioneer award at GDC on Wednesday, February 20, 2006.

On February 27, 2008, Baer received the 2008 Developers Choice Awards "Pioneer" award. The award recognizes individuals who have contributed the advancement of the videogame industry through technology, concept, or gameplay design.

On April 1, 2010, Baer was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame at a ceremony at the United States Department of Commerce in Washington, D.C.

Sorry if you already knew who he was then I guess you are not for shamed. If you did know who he was sorry for this blog you could of skipped and said in the comment section something like "I already know that" or "Yep, what a guy" but whatever hope this was enjoyable for somebody.

My theory on the word "dragon"

So I was sitting around and it occurred to me that any noun that has the word dragon in front of it is automatically more awesome. Here I will give you guys an example.

Sword

Dragon Sword

Go ahead give it a try with any nouns and then put dragon in front of it see for yourself. :P

Perdications

So it's getting close the Q4 and Gears of War 3 kicked it off. I'm usually pretty good at guessing what the game of the year is going to be. Sometimes I'm right and sometimes I'm wrong and normally it always just my best guess but it's fun to do. I have been guessing since 2005, I figure I would give you my past guess honestly and then conclude with what I think it will be this year so let's get started.

2005-The contenders for this year were all really good especially for me I had a hard time choosing. The choices were God of War, World of Warcraft, Call of Duty 2, Resident Evil 4, and FEAR.

I couldn't decide between God of War and Resident Evil 4. I ultimately sided with God of War and I was wrong the winner was Resident Evil 4 I was close but awell maybe I would get it next year.

2006-Ahhhh the year the 360 came out I was working part time at gamestop selling games and getting into the world of games on whole new level. The contenders were Okami, Gears of War, Guitar Hero, and Oblivion.

I guessed it would of been Oblivion. It was such a monster of game and I freaking loved it. A little side note I have 1000 achievement points in that game. I never played any of the expansions. I was correct this year and it indeed was Oblivion I was right. W00T!!

2007-In my personal opinion this would be my number one choice of best years in gaming. I had become a manger at gamestop and I even worked a lot of midnight openings for theses contenders. The choices were The orange box, Bioshock, Halo 3, andMass Effect.

For whatever reason I was telling people at the store who were buying Bioshock that it was going to be the game of the year. To add this game came out at the end of August and the other games were notout yet. Well guess what I was right this year and I think to this date that was my best guess yet.

2008-This was my last year at Gamestop I learned that there polices were awful and they ripped off customers left and right and for numours other reasonsI had to quit. Any who the choices were Gears of War 2, LittleBigPlanet, Fallout 3, Grand Theft Auto IV, and Metal Gear Solid 4.

I have an old blog still on this site when GTAIV came out saying that this was my choice but in the same blog I said it was way to early to make that kind of choice and that I would wait until Q4 to guess. Well when it was time for Q4 I decidedto stick with my guns on this choice and I really truly would be wrong but I was right again. I did a little happy dance. :D

2009-The choice for this year was easy for me cause I had only played one of these games, Yes I know it's pretty sad. The choice were. Batman, Uncharted II, Assassin's Creed II, and Modern Warfare II.

So I went with what I played and that was Uncharted II. I do own Modern Warfare II and Assassins Creed II but I hadn't played them. Well I was right again, could I keep this winning streak alive and for how long could I keep going.

2010-The choice's this year were amazing like every year they were Halo Reach, Black ops, Mass Effect 2, God of War III and Red Dead Redemption.

Well after putting my faith in God of War 2 I decide I would not pick God of War III. I was on the fence for a super long time between RDR and Mass Effect 2. At first I was like RDR then changed it to Mass Effect 2 and even while I was watching the show I still couldn't decide. My boyfriend sided with RDR so I went with Mass Effect 2 at the very last minute at leas one of was would be right I thought to myself. The winner was Red Dead Redemption. I was wrong. My streak had come to end. :(

2011-Well it's 2011 now and a lot of great and wonderful games are on the horizon. Since there are no nominees announced yet I will be guessing what the choice will be and who will win. Now remember these are my personal choices and are based on nothing but what I know about the games. I have not played any of them. My choices are Uncharted 3, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, Battlefield 3, Skyrim, Mass Effect 3, and Gears of War 3. (I know I choice 6, See if you guys to do any better narrowing down this list. It's probably all wrong. But the winner is what I'm really trying to get at.

Here are some honorable mention. I would of sooo put Xenoblade in there but there haven't been any JRPG's nominated in like forever so I didn't put it there

Portal 2 was an amazing game but I don't think it has the appeal of the first one to make it on my list.

Batman I think is a great choice to be up there but i ultimately stuck in this category of honorable mention.

There are many great games that came out and are going to be coming out this year and when the nominees are finally selected I may change the winner but I think I have a solid choice and my choice is going to be Skyrim.

Come on 11/11/11 I want to play you so bad.

Well that's all I hope this was a little entertaining, and I would love to hear everyone else thought of who they think should win. I know it's hard since most of the games haven't come out yet. But hey this is just for fun. Have a great day.

I'm back maybe I will stay this time

Hey all it's me zxv33 you remember right...At least I hope you still do. I've been coming here for the past few days to see if I would keep coming back and I have so I'm trying to be more active again. Let's see how long it lasts.

Anywho I just got a new game in the mail and I am super pumped. I really haven't been collecting hardcore since 2008 and I'm getting back into it again. Figures I would do that now and I have no money. I have also been looking into getting a DVR but I don't know much about them. So any imput from someone who knows about them would be most appreciative. I don't plan on recording tv since I don't have cable the point is kind of moot. I plan on recording the games I play.

Thanks all, I'm off to order pizza. Oh and the game is.......
