I was skeptical at first, but after playing for a week now and struggling through hell mode, the game is quite fun. The skill combos and character development is interesting and really allow you to vary your play style within set classes without rerolling constantly.
CoD:BO 2 ...cool, a new map pack and reskinned weapons. Look, it's degenerated into Guitar Hero with guns. Same game. New skins/maps. Pro gamers play CS anyhow. :)
Does this suprise you? As our government grows ever more totalitarian and intertwines itself further with corporations this is the logical next step. A completely arbitrary system of justice managed by corporations. We lose.
I can't stop playing this damn game... probably going to go back and play Witcher 1 when I beat it. :) Awesome game. Awesome studio. Nice to see the BEST rpgs are still for PC.
A great Villian is "The Master" from Fallout 1. He's shrouded in mystery for most of the game. As the game unfolds you uncover his devious plot which only makes you hate him more, even though you've never even seen him. Althought you don't know who or what he is you are drawn to seek him out. At the climax of the game you finally meet him only to see the true horror that he is, both on the literal and metaphorical level. That is story telling and true villian development, and yes, it is becoming a lost art. Great article KVO.
@texasgoldrush Kudos on the BG2 reference, although, its been so long since I've played I can't recall all the plot points. But still, the motivation is then, "get rich to buy a house for mom and get on the 5 o'clock news." That still doesn't drive me to do it. The story does require a sense of urgency. If it didn't we would be playing The Sims. It does lead to Anders which opens up some interesting quests, but Flemmeth is simply thrown in. It's heavy handed. Here is the Witch of the Wilds with some erie advice, "leap into destiny." But what destiny? Moving mother to the penthouse and getting gold with a dwarf? Don't you see how this, which is supposed to pull you into the story, is rather lackluster?
