Great Fun........While it lasts

These days, we're always looking for a game that can stand up to Halo (or Halo 2 for that matter). What we really need to realize is that Halo is Halo. Killzone is Killzone. And Project Snowblind is Project Snowblind. Enough of the comparison. To start off, this game is not to be missed by anyone who is a fan of this genre, or just a fan of action for that matter. This one has plenty of it. You'll notice this intensity once you get into your first major fire-fight and realize that you're ammo is almost depleted and you see four more bad guys jump over a fence to join the action. It's all pretty much non-stop, fast paced. The most innovative part of the gameplay is the strategy in using your special abilities. You have certain skills such as invincibility, cloaking, seeing through walls, and hyper speed. These all add a certain depth the gameplay and can certainly be very helpful at times. The worst part is that you can actually beat the game without using them hardly at all. The graphics are right on, with some beautiful environments. Most of your comrades look the same, but that's probably just because they are all wearing the same uniforms. There is rarely any slowdown in the frame rate, and most animations are flawless. The only drawback is when a character dies, they tend to stand still for a minute (meaning you waste extra ammo shooting at them when they are really already dead, but you can't tell because they freeze up for half a second). This is also known as the lack of the "rag doll" effect. Hearing this game through the ears is not harsh, but it's somewhat average. The sound from the weapons tend to not have a really distinct sound individually. Not to say that you can't tell the difference in sound from each weapon, but I think the sounds should've had a much better "enunciation." Voices from all the characters seem above par, but not by much. Unfortunately there is another downfall to this game: The amount of time it takes you to beat it. This game was at most 8 hours, and that's for the novice group. Most superb FPS fans can beat this game in less than 6. Thank the video game gods that there is online support. Even more depressing is that there is no offline multiplayer mode, so don't expect to have a 4 player showdown with your buddies. Overall, this game is very entertaining, thrilling, and full of "edge of your seat" action. Biggest downfall is that the end comes so quick. If only the story itself were a little longer, this game would've received much more praise. However, this game is still every bit worth the time, and the online action will keep you playing for months.
