Hunting down a former loveable protagonist has never been this much fun.

I wouldn't call Prototype 2 an actual sequel, but more "what Prototype should have been". Prototype 2 greatly improves the mistakes of it's predecessor. But that's pretty much all it did. Almost no new aspects have been added, some have even been removed.

Prototype 1 was frustratingly difficult at some points, Prototype 2 overcompensates by making the game too easy. This is really the only bad thing to be said about Prototype 2. Even though you don't have alot of new stuff to work with, Prototype 2 delivers the same amount of gruesome mass destruction you're familiar with.

You get the same superpowers as Prototype, with exception of the Musclemass power, which has been replaced with the new Tendril power. Granted, the Musclemass power was pretty useless, but they could have left it in nonetheless. They also removed the full body armor and replaced it with a double shield that absorbs ANY kind of damage, and even inflicts damage if timed correctly.

Upgrading your abilities is alot more fun and less repetitive. You also won't have to spend a ridiculous amount of EP on upgrades and melee combos you never needed. Instead, you get to spend points on awesome and useful upgrades that make your character incredibly overpowered. Wether this is a good or a bad thing is up to you. Personally, i think it's a good thing.

The side missions and collectibles are alot more fun to finish, and are even relevant to the story this time, whereas Prototype's collectibles and side missions were "just there for no reason", so to speak.

Graphically, the game has also greatly improved, but again, it's nothing too special. The constant black & white cutscenes tend to get a bit boring as well.

Through Radnet, the game will be updated weekly (at least for the next few weeks), allowing you to complete newly released events, which grant you unique upgrades and unlockables. DLC also looks very promising.

In short, Prototype 2 is what it's predecessor should have been. It's definitely worth buying, sure to provide a few weeks of fun for anyone who liked the first game.
