Okay look, I'm sure no one really cares about what I think. Good, you shouldn't. If you haven't played this game, go rent it and play it, it's definitely worth 10 bucks to play. Make sure you beat it before you buy it... On to the review:

First of all, everyone compares this to inFamous due to their relatively close release dates (or exact dates, don't remember). And as far as gameplay goes, there is good reason for the comparison. We all know by now that this is a free roaming game set in New York City. The gameplay is nearly identical (or at least EXTREMELY similar) to inFamous. Getting around town has it's ups and downs on both games and overall they're both pretty good in that department. Now here's where I'm gonna deviate real quick. The weapons. Okay, yes, in this game you get TONS of COOL weapons and awesome combos. How often do you actually think to use them? Once? Twice maybe? And mostly cause they look cool. Often I've discovered the most people choose a weapon of their choice and stick with it for the game. (I liked the blade.) So all those cool weapons and tricks are a waste cause you will never use them. Even if you try. It's just not worth the effort.

Now without comparing to inFamous, I'm going to briefly speak on the two things that, to me, make inFamous FAAAAAAAAR better than this "game." Okay, first thing (without spoilers) the boss fight... WTF??? It seemed as though they ran out of ideas and just threw a twist in there, which no one sees coming but it's basically irrelevant, all it does is ask more questions that will not be answered. And with the fight itself. I spent over 21 hours doing ridiculously retarded and repetitive side missions to buy all the cool upgrades possible. Guess how many I used on the final boss... No no no... just guess.... Can you? ONE! Just one. The tentacle devastator, which did very little damage and that pissed me off. Your best move barely scratches the guy. That was the only one I used. The only way to beat the stupid brute is to run around and shoot him or throw crap at him. He was hard, which I liked, no point in having a weak final boss. But he was too strong. Get too close to him and he takes at least a quarter your health and if he gets you with his devastator, you can pretty much bend over cause your toast. I'm still really peeved that all I got to do was throw helicopters and military men at him. it was highly boring and repetitive, so in other words, it was anti-climactic and disappointing.

The final thing that bothered me about Prototype was the final movie. Answered no questions, left MANY plot holes, asked new questions, and set up for a sequel like any good franchise should do. In other words. It sucked. I felt robed! I mean, even if you loved the game, you can't tell me that the ending was anything other than trash! It was short and it didn't wrap anything up. It was like writing a research paper 50 pages long and forgetting to write the conclusion. And that bugs me to no end.

So in the end, Prototype was good enough to make me want to finish it, then I wanted to stab my eyeballs with lit cigarettes because I did. If you played it and liked it, go play inFamous. The gameplay is so similar it'll feel like the same game. The powers are cooler cause you actually USE them. The final boss is awesome and explainable. Better than all that, the ending of inFamous answers the majority of questions you'll have and STILL set up a sequel. Yes it's obvious I like inFamous better but to be 100% honest, it was a pretty close race until Prototype epically failed down the home stretch. Again, just my opinion. But hey, it still got a 7 out of me. It's worth playing so long as you don't actually finish the game. LOL!
