Good for a while
Scaling walls, tearing people limb-from-limb, commandeering helicopters and tanks and destroying everything in sight sounds like fun, right? Well, on a positive note, Prototype's gameplay is very frantic, fun and addictive. You will find out just how powerful Alex Mercer really is once you start to unlock the major powers and abilities he has to offer. In these terms, the game has a rich, rewarding experience just waiting to be had.
Graphically, Prototype looks very last-generation, no doubt. Personally, I do find that it breaks the immersion in the cut scenes a bit, but during gameplay it doesn't really break much of the immersion because of how much is going on on-screen at once. The frame rate will occasionally drop a little, but it's nothing too game-breaking. In my opinion, the visuals obviously aren't anything to brag about, but it's still at least passable to me.
In the end, I have very mixed reactions of the game. I feel it's definitely worth a rent because of how rewarding the gameplay can be, but I wouldn't quite justify a purchase unless you feel you will play through the story more then once.
