Few games deliver carnage like Prototype does.
When I played the opening level for the first time my jaw hit the floor. Absolute mayhem ensues from the outset as you control Alex Mercer as he attempts to find out who he is & why he's got these sensational powers.
Technically Prototype seems to be a near outstanding port with the odd sound issue to begin with but I worked round it. Visually the game is quite stunning on high resolutions & character animations seem very solid & the game ran very smooth even when theres hundreds(and I do mean 100's) of enemies & vehicles on the screen at once.
This game never stops delivering surprises. Like when you first discover your shape-changing abilities or when you unlock devastator attacks. It just doesn't get old fast at all. Speaking of those devastator attacks, does video gaming get any better than that?
The story is pretty good to & you unlock nodes to your web of intrigue as you consume certain characters. Also you can gain new abilities like driving tanks by consuming a certain enemy.
Loads of events to do & a lot of them involve pure bloody mayhem. I love it. We need more games like this.
Downsides are probably the controls are a bit fiddly and I'm using a 360 controller. I dread to think what it's like playing mouse and keys. I've not even tried. I suppose it does get repetitive after a mammoth session but as long as there are new moves to unlock with ep points you shouldn't get bored easily at all.
My advise is buy this beauty of a game at all costs because it's just balls to the wall entertainment.
