Prototype is an excellent action sandbox game and the highlight of it's genre this year.

Prototype really didn't feel like much when I started playing it. Granted I just got off an Infamous play through so perhaps I wasn't in the right frame of mind. What I can say after playing more and more of Prototype is that it becomes amazing when you unlock more and more powers. The game itself is very action packed with mayhem at every turn. The missions themselves are there, they tell the story of what happened to your character Alex Mercer and contain enough variety without getting dull. But the real meat of the game are the powers. You gain XP by completing story or side missions and by taking out tough enemies. You can spend them on more powers like hammers or blades for hands or thermal vision or upgrades for jumping or gliding. Then you can go to town or simply glide and run all over it. All I can really say is that if you are a fan of the action genre and want mindless fun then this is the game for you. Easily the best of it's class in the genre this year.
