The Good: My brother played a demo of Pursuit Force and told me that it was repetItive and not fun. Maybe about a week later I got one of the demos from EB games. I loaded it up thinking it was going to be another generic mess of a game. To my surprise I was instantly drawn in. I don't know what demo he was playing but my bro must be becoming quite cynical with age. Anyway, I picked up the finished version of PF and so far I'm having a great time. The graphics are crisp, the voices are campy but impressive and the gameplay is fast paced entertainment. The frame rate doesn't drop a bit during the high speed chases. Speaking of "Speed" there is actually a homage to the movie were you drive a bus and it can't drop below a certain mph or it'll go boom! It's a total rip but at least it was done well. I also liked the different criminals that you can go after and the fact that you can switch between them (when unlocked of course). The presentation was also surprisingly good and there are a ton of cool unlockables like photos that you can save to your PSP as wallpapers! Every game should utilize that feature.
The Bad: Even though PF is probably one of the best PSP games it's also one of the most frustrating. The game is fast paced for a reason. Most of the missions are time based were you have to take out a number of bad guys before they reach their destination or take out a boss at the end. Some of the missions have checkpoints but a lot of them don't, so many times you'll have to start the entire mission from either dying or not taking out the enemy in time. The on foot missions break up the repetition but can be quite clunky. I also felt that many of the missions just doesn't give you enough time to complete them.
The Ugly: Why is it that I can't put my PSP to "sleep" in the menu screens on this game?
Final: If you have patience and you enjoy fast paced brainless action, pick up Pursuit Force now!
Just like Winning Eleven 9, I have got the European version of this game, which I got back in November (The US version is supposed to be superior in many ways to the Euro version). First off, the presentation of the game... Read Full Review
