I was looking forward to this, relocated xbox so I could play it for hours and got on day 1. I haven't played for hours.
For some reason, and I can't figure out why, Puzzle Quest 2 has yet to fill me with a sense of fun. I even enjoyed Galactrix for many hours before tiring or perhaps getting a bit frustrated with it.
The way this game controls on the xbox is anything but natural. They really should have done a separate game for the xbox. It's understandable why DS release was first and I feel pc or iphone should have been second as this is a touch or mouse game not a joystick game. They at least did probably the best they could with the battle portion of the game on a joystick. The whole navigating and default navigating and trying to chat or figure out where you can buy/exchange goods is a mess.
The puzzle filling the screen actually seems a bit large to get a good sense of where to move next, guess I need to get a smaller screen for this game (never thought I'd say that about a game). Again the interface in the battles it's frustrating to have to press RB then move up/down so many times just to find out how many more turns the enemy will be stunned - just put a number over the stun graphic symbol already!
I stupidly bought this game, convinced I'd love it, before even doing the trial - I did play it on facebook and thought that was enjoyable. I am very hopeful it's just the whole interface that's ruining the experience for me and that on the pc or iphone or somewhere else I can find the enjoyment I expected to get from this game. For now I much rather play on the pc: Puzzle Kingdoms or Chronicles or even go back to first puzzle quest.
Even if you are convinced you'll love this give the trial a try first. I'm hoping an improved PC experience awaits.
