Went in with high hopes, came out with a bad taste of really crappy spells in my mouth coming out.

At first I thought the game had something going for it. For its time it had a pretty new combat system, one that hadn't really been used before. Although now, I wish they had never used the system at all. The beginning of the game itself is frustrating with no "real" map to tell you where to go, you spend at least half an hour going through some trial and error dialogue, praying that the next person you bump into will tell you that: "yes the castle's exit is through the next door on your right", unfortunately, most of us didn't here those beautiful words until half an hour into the game. Also yes the combat is flawed. It's based on circles, every turn you can move around within the confinements of your circle, and by next turn you circle would be re-centered around your character for more movement capability, with a big yellow circle outlining the boundaries of the battle field. This was mostly flawed due to the horrible hit detection in combat. there was only one move, out of the four you are stuck with throughout the entirety of the game (taking into account that each move has the ability to be upgraded) only one will hit no matter what, and it did the least amount of damage out of the moves. Due to an inability to move the camera's angle during combat, judging whether a move was lined up correctly to face an opponent was difficult. Some moves also required you to be right up next to the opponent in order to hit them. Finally, weak storyline, probably simplified for the young target audience, but honestly, "your father has left the kingdom (or died, something like that) and has left you this staff, go find him and complete what he failed to finish, and that's about it! Which is obviously a problem. Anyway, all in all this game deserves a four out of ten.
