One thing this game really needed to be an amazing experience: Time.

Quest 64 was supposed to be the Final Fantasy for the Nintendo 64, but it fails in every way. Not to be a jerk or anything, but this game is seriously an unimpressive game with some serious problems.

The game's graphics are unimpressive. No detail, and it gets ugly when you're close up--even when you're not close up, things get ugly! But the game is very colorful.

Story is mediocre and very simple: Brian, the hero, is looking for his father who is the king, who is looking for an evil thief who stole the "Eletale Book." Doesn't sound as though the developers took much time into think up the plot. No twists or anything, just the same, consistent story throughout.

You have very basic magic: Fire, Earth, Wind, and Water. When you level, well, actually you pick which element you want to be more powerful when you level up. When you're close to an enemy, you hit them with your staff . . . yeah. Sometimes the camera gets stuck when you're facing enemies, and you can't see your character, which means you can't see how far away you are from the enemy, and it just turns into a mess. The games music is nothing compared to Zelda's, Final Fantasy, and even Mario. Most of the songs are memorable besides battle themes. The thing that is fun is the huge overworld you can explore.

Overall, Quest 64 just needed more time. The developers just rushed it. It really is a shame. Hopefully, in the future, there will be a great, worthy sequel ahead.
