This is a love it or hate it game. Final Fantasy fans dismiss this as trash and that it's not Final Fantasy, and it's not. In no way does this game match Final Fantasy, and that's why people dislike this game, because they expect to much of it to enjoy it for what it is. The N64 was a desolate wasteland for Rpg's, only focussing on platformers and FPS's. This was all we had until Paper Mario, and for many, it wasn't enough. Thgis game was hyped to be FF on the N64 in terms of quality, and everyone let their expectations get the best of them. To start, they were asking for mind blowing graphics, and this game did partially deliver good-looking monsters and a beautiful overworld. Now the music is nothing of most RPG's, but it is pleasent to hear. Also the battle system is well done with you controling what your character does, instead of commanding him. You can even dodge blows. The magic system is bland, with only four types of elemental spells. The game looks nice though and you'll find yourself enjoying it if you don't expect that much out of it.
