There are bad games. And then there are very bad games. Race Drivin' is one of those rare games that falls into the later category. Most games, even bad ones, contain some entertainment quality. Race Drivin' contains none. Well, maybe there is one part that is funny. But it is funny because the game is so poorly made. Gameplay: 1/10 I don't know if i've played a game with such poor controls and options. When the game starts, you have the option to race on one of a few tracks. The Autocross track is basically just a loop which is boring. The Stunt track has some sharper turns and some bumps. And the Super Stunt Track is impossible because of a really high jump area that is just not possible to get past. If you go off road, you are told that you are off road. And can lose the game that way. If you run into a blue line... you bounce back. The controls are very poor as you drive around the track. The turns you can make with your steering wheel are not too subtle so it is very easy to overshoot your turns. Also, if you want to get around the track fast enough to beat the timer, you have to have it on full throttle, which burns your fuel. It is just as likely for you to burn through your fuel and not be able to move than for you to finish the track. Graphics: 2/10 Bold attempt at 3D. But a miserable failure. The refresh rate is very weak. The attempt at polygons makes the game look really silly. The car dash board is the best thing about the graphics in terms of details. However, the dash and non-windshield parts take up way too much space, leaving the actual driving view to be only a small part of your screen. The fields of play are very drab. There are no decorations or nice backgrounds. It is overall a very very ugly game. Sound: 1/10 There are only a few times in the game that there is music... the beginning, the car selection, the game over etc... There are only two sound effects in the game. Engine sound and car explosion. *shakes head* Reviewer's Tilt: 1/10 This is such a bad game. Don't download it or play it. Do yourself a favor.
This was one of my first ever console games I ever played back in the 90's.. And being a wee boy at the time I could clearly see that this is utter pathetic. The Irony of it is on the front cover it shows somone clinging... Read Full Review
I remember picking this game up back in the early nineties, stoked about the 3D polygon graphics on the box. I went home and slammed the cartridge into my SNES, turned on, played! Wait a minute... The graphics look like ... Read Full Review
