Old-school shooter that does not disappoint.
I went to the midnight release of RAGE and did not hesitate on playing it. I was blown away. Before RAGE was released people were saying that the game was a Borderlands rip-off. I am proud to say that it does not feel like Borderlands at all. I actually find Borderlands to be boring and it cannot keep my interest for that long. Rage reminds me more of Doom 3, from the way the guns fire and feel to the way your character moves. RAGE has a run and gun old-school shooting mechanic to it. I was getting a little tired of all of these military shooters flooding the market lately. Don't hear me wrong I love military shooters, especially the Battlefield series, but I wanted something different, something old-school.
The way RAGE looks is also amazing, even on console. That tells you something about the capabilities of the id Tech 5 engine. When an enemy is running in your direction and you shoot him in the leg the enemy will stumble and try to regain balance or even just try to limp towards you. The physics are some of the best in any game I have seen.
For all the people who are complaining about the game's story, I hate to break it to you, but this is and older style shooter. Old School shooters never cared about an amazing emotional story, they were about blowing enemies into bloody pieces and just having fun. If you want an old-school shooter this is the game for you. If all you are a hardcore CoD fanboy then you will most likely hate this game, but try it out if you want to see for yourself.
