At the time I thought no racing game could unseat Project Gotham 2 as the champion. Hmmm. I quickly changed my mind with this game. They're both that good, and depending on whether you like to drive on asphalt or dirt, one of them is superior. With its excellent mix of arcade-like control, risk-taking action (falling off a cliff in an unprotected curve, or losing a wheel while taking a rocky curve too fast, will eventually happen to you) and excellent variety of terrain, vehicles and game types, I decided that this game was more fun, more varied and more forgiving than PGR2. You don't need to be European to appreciate the look of damp, rolling meadows in the English countryside or the rocky, grueling alpine ascents in Monaco. But you'll soon develop a strange love affair with the classic rally models, like Lancia's legendary racers and Volvo's boxy, muscular rallycross cars. To play it is to enjoy it.
