Of the console rally games I've played this is the one that occupies most of my time.

Rally Championship is an under appreciated game; It provides a lot of playtime with many unique stages that are quite long. The challenge seems to vary considerably depending on the stage with the AI times being very fast at some tracks and quite easy to beat at others. However, I've yet to come across times that can't be beaten even at the highest difficulty levels. I quite like the graphics. They are pleasing to the eye and popup is far enough away that you don't notice it unless you look for it. The dirt and snow look great. Trees and people look a little flat and lifeless but only when looking closely.

I think of myself as being picky when it comes to control on car sims and control on this game was easy for me to get used to and it felt pretty natural, however not what I would call realistic. I like to use the Driving Force racing wheel when possible. This game does support it, but the control is far too sensitive which makes the wheel essentially unusable. The control pad is really the only acceptable way to play.

With all said and done, I recommend this game to car and racing enthusiasts that are looking for a decent game that they can pick up and play occasionally to challenge some interesting tracks. Those of you that want an arcade experience or even those that need a super challenging sim experience may be disappointed.
