User Rating: 10 | Ratchet & Clank 2: Locked and Loaded PS2
When I started out playing PS and PS2 games they were either really long or really short. Spyro (Also from insomniac games) is a great example of this. The game was long, tedious, and rather boring. The worst parts were the interface, the graphics, and finally that annoying music. Then ratchet and clank came out, and this fixed all that. When the first ratchet and clank came out it was quite possibly the best game ever. It had a wonderful interface, stupendous graphics, and the music suited the game well. This game was an improvement over everything that had ever come out. Then came Ratchet and Clank going commando. This was even an improvement (if that’s possible) over Ratchet and Clank 1. The best part was the weapons. This factor introduced a new style to this platform. Instead of hitting them with fire, running them over, or using some basic weapon (like a wrench or a punch or something) you could blast people, suck them up, fry them, punch them (with a weapon), and shoot a missile at them. This opened up new depths to gaming (I mean good depths not lows). On top of that fact you had various gadgets like add-ons to Clank like the Heli-pack, rocket-pack, and the hydro-pack. The gadgets made puzzles easier like instead of having to do some mindless combo of moves to gain access to some area on the map all you had to do was find the swingshot (a grapple like thing) and swing on over to a piece of otherwise inaccessible land. Stuff that I never would have though of just showed up all the time. All in all this game was one of the best that I’ve ever played. The game play was great. The plot was awesome (it actually had an interesting plot with some twists). The weapons you could by were astounding. The gadgets just pulled it all together and held it there. This game is perfect in everyway, so I gave it 10 out of 10.
