The very first of my Ratchet & Clank reviews. The one that redefined a genre!
Story: This game is the story of Ratchet, who discovers a defective war robot that he nicknamed Clank. Clank is extremely smart, but is also by the books, sometimes not understanding what Ratchet means. Right from the beginning, Clank suggests they find Captain Qwark, a holo-vid superhero. They find out later, however, that he is a complete wuss when it comes to fighting. Through the rest of the game, they free planets that have been taken over by the evil dictator Drex. ( believe that's his name)
Gameplay: This game offers a lot of different weapons at your disposal. these weapons are creative and fun to shoot. You are also given the ability to use different gadgets, such as the swingshot, which allows you to swing across gaps. The game offers variety, by including different mini-games, and driving sequences. These offer a great diversion, and are executed wonderfully.
The Bottom Line: This is a fantastic game. The graphics were great for its time, the weapons were great, the platforming is smooth. Its an all around great game.
