The guys and gals at Insomniac have done an excellent job keeping fans of the Ratchet and Clank franchise happy, by adding new gaming elements, quirkier story lines, and even more destruction than the title it precedes each time. Deadlocked is no different. Some of the platforming goodness we were blessed with in the first three titles is gone without your little robot buddy strapped to your back, but Deadlocked will still tickle the fancy of anyone who is a diehard platforming fan. Where Deadlocked really shines is in causing mass destruction: you will do it, you will do it well, and you will LOVE IT! There's nothing quite more rewarding than leveling up one of your weapons that used to take five or six shots to waste one of those damn Executioners into a weapon that can wipe three or four of them out in one, bolt-showering wave of glory. The selection of weapons is not as impressive as the other titles in the series, but with the addition of Alpha and Omega mods that you can install and uninstall, as well as the number of times you can level up each weapon, there's not much complaining here. Once again there is a nice story line, maybe just a bit darker than the others, but the all the memorable characters and humorus dialogue that made the other R&C titles so enjoyable are still there. There's not a lot to complain about this game, but there are a couple things. The core story mode is a bit short for my liking, and at times it felt like I was fighting not only the enemies, but the camera. The reason I say that Deadlocked is the worst game in the series is that it isn't as involving as the ones it precedes. The absence of Clank and the idea that Ratchet is a "prisoner" kind of combine to make it feel as if the game just isn't complete. All in all, Deadlocked is a wonderfully designed game and is worth every penny toe to add to your still growing Ratchet & Clank collection! 8.9 out of 10
