Rayman Legends is a great platformer that has a lot of potential to be one of the best platformers to grace the Wii U.

User Rating: 8.5 | Rayman Legends WIIU
This was my first time playing a game in the Rayman series and I was definitely not disappointed, I have heard some really great thing about the series but to be honest I have honestly never been interested in the the series, don't quite know why. When the Wii U was announced Rayman Legends was announced to be an exclusive game for it, and when I saw it at E3 I was impressed it looked really good. Well as time went on with the Wii U's Launch Ubisoft would announce a delay for the game pushing it to the date of September 6th. It would later be announced that Rayman Legends would no longer be a exclusive game for the Wii U but spread itself to the PS3 and the Xbox 360, a big blow too Nintendo. While I was disappointed by this I still stuck with the Wii U's version because I still felt that Ubisoft would make the WII U's installment the better version. Was I right? lets find out.

Story: The Teensies and ten princesses have been captured by the Nightmares, and the Dark Teensies. (Huh Weird I could not imagine what influenced a story like this) Nothing too special but not too worry because this game dosen't need a story to be an enjoyable experience.

Presentation: The Presentation in this game is absolutely beautiful, there are tons of levels that are very diverse, their are so many levels that are varied and are just so nice to look at and makes for a perfect experience for the game and their is a pretty good soundtrack also.

Gameplay: The gameplay has some very great aspects to it but also has some problems, but first I will talk about the good things to say about it. First off the controls are very intuitive and feel really good. This is one of the most important aspects in a 2d platformer and they definitely got it nearly perfect. each level has unique challenges some that work well, but other that contain a lot of trial and error. While some of these are still not a bother to play some can be really annoying and tiresome. Their is one huge innovation in this game and that's it's platforming levels where you play to the music as you run through the level, these levels are all pretty much perfect and a joy to play, and I just love the idea. This is probably the most memorable part of this game and they executed these parts of the game off perfectly. Their an enjoyable experience the whole way through. When it come to the actual platforming to this game as Ive mentioned they pretty much did everything right, and then we get to my next point, the levels that Murfy is in, this is where this games down point is. To my understanding Murfy was in the PS3 and Xbox 360 version, but since you don't have the touch screen, you have to use the controller, I don't know if this works well or not since I haven't played these versions, but the gamepad version is an annoyance to play, I'll explain why. First off it's a slowed down version of the actual game, and you must touch certain areas in the game too get through each part of the level, the idea seems like it would be a good one but the actual execution is terrible. It's a boring tedious mess and the huge reason why is due to the fact that the AI of Murpy is absolutely God awful, literally atrocious, probably almost as bad as Sheva in Resident Evil 5. I literally found a level where I could not progress because he wouldn't pass through the lava that I was blocking with a shield I tried everything but he would literally just stay their, and I don't know anyway to get him to progress I just had to skip the level due to this. I have never had a computer in a game ignore a command(you know besides Sheva)but luckily you can play with another player, but they could have made the AI a better experience for the single player experience. Other than these big flaw some level as Murfy can be enjoyable but their are very few. The gameplay is enjoyable when it comes to the actual fast paced levels, the others not so much, but for the most part the gameplay is fun.

Overall Rayman Legends has some innovative ideas in platforming, and is a great experience, for the most part. If you like platforming games this game is definitely worth picking up. Even though the Gamepad wasn't too great on the Wii U's version I still think that it's worth getting.
